Who is going to be there?

A question about gearing

is stock gearing is ok? 16/41

right now I am running 15/40 (like 2 teeth) shorter gearing for local track

and i am scared to run short and top out on the long straight

Any input, from cota regulars

those cancel each other out, but the 15 would outweigh the 40. r u sure not15/42?

I will more than likely be there.

Gearing is a bit of moot point for the V4 at COTA as it has so much power everywhere on the rev band. You are not going to run out of gears on the back straight, even with your 15T front sprocket. You will be fine as-is.

I’ll be there. We might try to meet any fellow forum members - whoever’s interested.

I agree with @TomFoolery - the difference is small. This calculator says you’ve gained ~4% torque and lost 4% in top speed:

https://sprocketcalculator.com/
So if top speed was gearing limited to 200 mph, now it’ll be 192.

Let me know if anyone wants to share garage space. If there’s interest, MotionSBK will likely rent an entire garage.

Thanks for the offer Chris. My trailer is so well setup with everything just where I need that I always just pit out of my trailer instead of loading and unloading to/from a garage. But I will swing by the garages and hang out with you all between sessions. Look forward to seeing everyone.

Please have your vax cards ready for inspection.

just kidding!!!!!!!!!

lol. I want to check out your trailer - I’m considering a toy hauler.

Pics! I'm looking at trailer options.

Craig is a high roller! Toy haulers are awesome, I would love to have one. Especially the ones with the little patio/deck setup out back and the remote awnings.

I just have a 7x14 dual axle cargo trailer. Its well setup, functional and I use the space efficiently but no hiding its humble cargo trailer roots.

I can haul 3 bikes, sleep in my fold out bed with all 3 bikes still inside trailer (freaking awesome to pull up at track late at night and just go to bed), AC, fridge, microwave, TV (for my daughter when she goes to trackdays with me), Keurig, pit scooter, spare wheels, stands, ez-up, toolbox. I have TRS for the road bikes, and also a similar stapless stands setup for dirt bikes so I can haul 5 dirt bikes instead of the 3 road bikes when I go woods riding.

Nice setup. I have two trs mounts on an Aluma trike trailer.

Okay just finished a day at cota. I am not convinced about my 15 front gearing for cota.

Could not keep the front end down especially on the straights - the front was constantly skimming off the top and wanting to lift. Not a good feeling at 140 mph. Kept me from being wide open and cost me at least 15-20 miles an hour on the back straight. Cranking up the wheelie control to 8 kept the front down but the traction light was almost continuously on when I was on the gas. I am running the SLR unfiltered tune so no torque limits in any gear.

I'm going to go back on May 7th and will throw my stock front sprocket back on for that day. It also was not warm enough today for sc1s (ran sc3s today) and hoping May 7th is warm enough for sc1s.

I can tell you for sure the 16t does the same thing. Front and back straight and the front end was not staying down. I had TC and WC at 2 and still lighting the warnings... This was today @ COTA as well on my 21 Factory. It's the undulations. My StreetFighter V4s and GSX-r1000R do the same thing. Either go left around the undulations on the back straight or ride the white line on the right. It helps ALOT!

165-170mph on the back straight in 4th gear. I'm going to drop to the 15 for more grount out of the corner and to help get to max speed quicker
