Who owns this 1199 Tri?

That's what I would have bet on. I know a few older guys that get the most joy out of the "build". Tinkerers with more toys than they can play with. As soon as the build is done, there's no more joy left and they blow it out to get the next project in.

That is an insane deal, I'm jealous. Have fun with her. Hope to see you at Jennings this season. We'll see how my built out base compares on the track.

Based on what EvoL stated, the previous owner didn't even enjoy 'the build' as he took the bike to the dealer to do the modding. Sounds like this guy just like to click his mouse to buy stuff and watch stuff evolve to its apex before he gets bored, used or not.

I mean this guy modded the .... out of this bike with major performance benefits only to never experience what his wallet created:confused:

If you want to get rid of those wheels and brakes I will swap you the S brakes and wheels+cash.

Wow let this be a lesson. Mods add zero value. That bike would have sold for the exact same stock.

Man this is the truth. This guy pissed away a minimum of $10k in accessories and labor for nothing, not to mention the likely additional $10k on the bike itself.

Kudos to EvoL though for benefitting from a gluttonous individual, what a score:D

Same thing, he wasn't a hands-on builder, but obviously liked to have his toy modded. It's only confusing because the scale of his wallet makes it nonsensical to regular folk. Especially in NYC, where it's relatively common to have 8- or 9- figure incomes. Then, owning an 1199 and buying accessories for it is the relative equivalent of my son getting a new Lego set every time we're at Walmart.

The seller was a rather well off individual who enjoyed modding. He and his wife decided he should get out of the motorcycle world. He literally never rode it as most of the miles were from the dealer riding it back and fourth between mods. He was a very nice guy and I'm glad I made the trip.

It's going to be prepped for sale now :)

Thanks! See above.

Makes sense, with those $8,000 wheels and whoever knows how much (and why?) those brakes needed an upgrade.

CF wheels and nice brakes but the crap factory rear sets ?

He def didn't ride the bike.

Nice score.

What I REALLY don't understand is why someone like that would even sell it on eBay. I'm sure a local craigslist ad would have sold it for more and faster.

Well Frosty somethings will always be a mystery... Just like where do flies go in the winter???

And there it is.

Just think of what some car guys do.
This stuff ain't nothin' in comparison.

I know a guy who bought a new Maserati GTS for 130k.
Traded in 2 yrs later at like 70k.
He didn't even blink.

Only cared about how cool the replacement Aston Martin looked.

He traded it in, that's the easiest way out. Selling a bike on eBay is a lot more complicated, that's why I'm surprised. He could have dropped it off at the dealer and said give me $21k for it, thanks good bye.

it's his right to do what he pleases with his money and machines. why the bitterness?

and maybe his and his wife's rationale was, "we'll lose money on the bike but save your life." not too inexcusable given the utter vehicular idiocy on the roads these days.

someone else pointed out earlier that the dealer offerred 15k without the wheels/rotors. . . so if he didn't want to deal with parting things out. . . . both sides worked out fine and thats the best for everyone involved. And thats the best way to do a deal - show up with cash/certified check/etc and do it face to face. . . sight unseen requires a lot of trust when there are no protections in place.

This.

I would not have wired the money in this case and had it shipped.

I'll be out there. I don't think the rider matches the mods though :D

I have all the stock stuff as well, but thank you for the offer.

Thanks. I have a feeling this is the kinda guy who spends 10k on lunch.

I felt the same way.

LMAO. Not me personally. Saw the rotors but I just looked on BST site and they dont even make rotors! Unsure what brand those are.Still looking for a place that sells chicken strips too.

Most truck stops sell chicken strips at the hot food counter.

Congrats on the smoking deal Evol. Can we say once in a lifetime.
