Who owns this 1199 Tri?

To me as a Tri owner, seeing one go for that cheap is a little disheartening...
I mean...I get the whole depreciation hit thing but that seems excessive.

Might not "need" the money, and just wanted to move it fast. I got a great price on a bike that a wealthy guy sold. He got 1-2 new bikes every year, and only hung on to them 12- years depending on how much he liked them. The dealership said one bike was delivered inside the house as a living room object d' art :)

Thats the market for a lightly used Tri right now - right around 20K plus/minus a couple K. . . The upgrades/etc will alter the price a bit, but you aren't going to get anywhere near say half value on upgrades unless you're willing to part them out. . . That bike's value is there because of questionable seller and auction. So EvoL if he gets the bike, gets the benefit of 'taking a chance' and is rewarded by some expensive wheels/rotors. . .. because if those wheels/rotors weren't on the bike, a lightly used tri would get around 20K or so if selling privately.

So EvoL, what's the latest? You won the listing but do you own the bike? Has the 'seller' reached out? Whazzup?

He sent me two, they are on my phone and i am too lazy to upload them ..... :D. He will complete his 1300 miles journey back to FL soon enough, should be back by September :D.

The whole sale reminds me of when Michael Scott from the American version of The Office sold his condo on eBay.

"I sold it on eBay. The buyer was very motivated, as was I. It went for eighty percent of what I paid. Sold in record time."

I wouldn't worry about Tri prices.

EvoL, congrats man!

So pay with cash or check in person!?!? You'll obviously see a real bike, and have the title...? Nothing suspicious to me!

Nothing at all. Transaction is fine. Just realize that Paypal wasn't offered and no buyer protection was available for this transaction. So if you wired or paypaled separately - you were on your own. No one said you couldn't go and bring a cashiers check or anything else. Just that there were no protection mechanism in place that were available.

Not a scam at all (yay!). The guy was nice. I came with cash, we signed paperwork, done deal.

:D ear to ear

Damn, what a deal. Congrats!

Any backstory on the seller to put all the speculation to rest?

I'm glad that the guys shitting all over this thread got disappointed...congrats EvoL ;)

Indeed. The sweet battle between our resident kanuk and Jersey Shore's Situation (or is it Pauly D?) was totally rad, I truly enjoy those "deep" debates:rolleyes:.

I didn't say it was a scam. However that doesn't change the fact that Pauly D can't read, this bike wasn't covered by any protection. EvoL rolled the dice and came up lucky. Congrats!

EvoL, glad to hear that you got the bike. You paid less than 16,000 Euro for almost brand new Tri with all the extras. Grazy deal, any idea why the owner was selling?
