Why did Ducati change the Panigale V4R one week before release?

In the aftermath since the new 2023 Ducati Panigale V4R has been released, I'm seeing irregularities with the rollout of this new superbike...
  1. The V4R announcement on October 7 was changed to TBD.
  2. Ducati took 6 days to make changes to the V4R. New V4R announcement scheduled for October 13.
  3. Only 9 photos were made public in the press release, however the sequential numbering of the press photos shows there were over 100+ photos scheduled to be released. What changed?
  4. Then I realized the photos on the website are different than the press photos. Ducati usually includes these photos with the press releases. Why not this time around?
  5. And credit goes to @SuperDomestique for noticing the V4R configurator on the website shows a different V4R.
  6. Going back and looking at all the photos, Ducati has made a conscious effort to only show photos from certain angles, that don't show the missing changes...
Looking at the V4R configurator, in both the Racing and Standard Configuration, you can see electronic forks and manual rear shock. Was only the suspension the last minute change?

I don't know what the changes were, and frankly don't care one way or the other. It's either gonna be a bike that someone purchases for racing, going to Starbucks with their Capri pants or perhaps someone who can afford the 45k price or not.

I was looking at buying a new car next spring and now this has thrown a wrench into my plans frankly.

IDK. That undertail exhaust looks like a lazy after thought.

I suspect Ducati knows most people will change out the exhast.

The photos in the first post are the Racing configuration of the V4R.

Here is the Standard configuration of the V4R:

old thought ... its been about for over a year, and available for all Panigale V4...
now a more track focused new system maybe gp style or something would of been new.....

The white patches with the weird looking number 1, along with the black, burgundy and pink-ish stripes/patches on the side of the fairings and tail unit looks awful. Very surprised by what Ducati has presented here. IMO one of the ugliest looking bikes from Ducati in a long time. None of that matters for racing though, but Ducati generally launches good looking bikes, which this V4R is not.

Those pictures are of a V4S w/ V4R fairings.
Look at the swing arm pivot, not adjustable.
Some how the rear shock is correct and nothing else.

It looked stupid on those bikes too.

Who's to say Ducati changed anything? All this conjecture about what they changed because of the delay. Unless Ducati comes out and says whatever was changed everyone is just guessing.

I thought all the R fairings have been adopted for the V4 range for a couple of years now so the only visible difference will be the pivot and shocks? Nothing in the blurb about forks so a bit confusing, these images are grabbed from the same page New Panigale V4 R Ducati - This is Racing

You guys are trying to draw a lot from the pictures. It’s perfectly reasonable that it was an early mock up using S forks or some other nonsense which escaped the PR people.

The pic with the S forks almost looks fake. The forks and controls are a touch too blurry compared to the rest of it.

Agreed. I’m in the hater camp of the undertail akra. I think it’s hilarious that it costs more too while looking worse
