As far as the question that started this thread, maybe it was delayed in order to get FIM agreement to a higher price cap.
the similar wheel barrow exhaust on the pro bikes is bigger and different its evo 2 not the same as the off the shelf thing.... for your 7K
So this special oil will give a power increase to any Ducati with a dry clutch or it's the pistons that make this viable?
Makes me want to start a racing exhaust company. I just have to remember to laser etch the word "titanium" on a few parts and I'll be making tubes for $8k a package.
Wait, what was it 3 years ago $3-4k, then last year was $5-6k, now we're past $7k. Next year? Who says $9-10k? This is way better than crypto. When will we'll we get to a fifth of the cost of the bike is the ti tubes? hahahaa
Akra is way too dominant and buddy buddy w Ducati
Agreed. I think it’s Akra’s relationship with Ducati that has mostly driven cost - as the only aftermarket exhaust a buyer can roll into vehicle financing AND not void the manufacturer warranty, they’ve got a near monopoly.
Regarding competition, it’s not that there aren’t other choices - it’s just that they can’t compete with Akra because they aren’t “Ducati approved”.
A friend had the Akra exhaust option on his 2019 Ford GT and I believe it was $25K.
Wow. And why is the exhaust for a Ford Mustang $2,500 while the one for the GT is $25,000?
Steak dinners baby - they want ‘em and they know you’ll pay for ‘em.
Because you don't put a $2500 exhaust on a (market overpriced) million dollar car.
I do think the exhausts are overpriced, but also I DO think that certain things are massively overlooked in regard to complaining about the price.
+How many ducati V4 are sold?
-Of that number how many put full systems on?
+Aside from material costs - development costs are amortized into projections based on numbers pointed out above
this is a larger scale then what happens in WSBK, meaning a Corse WSBK Akra exhaust cost I think 12-15k
As I said from the jump - its too expensive. But what is outlined above and then compounded by maintaining a certain margin is how we get to such wild numbers. Big part of it is how there really arent THAT many Ducatis out there compared Japanese bikes
