Yes, originally it was not going to be offered, I presume to get more "S" orders, not sure why it changed, but happy it did.
As far as metallic paint, I don't see any relation to paint and something as integral as ABS. ABS costs $1000 USD or Euro over there. Also, ABS could effect how the bike feels and operates/performs. I see a distinction.

I personally think it's nice to know. It gives me a feel of what the distribution is like based on posts here. It's a option on NA so it's nice to see whether people are adding it or not.
