Woolich tune

Help Support Ducati Forum:

So I learned something this weekend. If you are going to do the full auto tune set up regardless of what system you are using, the OEM narrowband O2 sensor positioning on the exhaust pipes is not interchangeable with wideband O2 sensors. I'm not talking about the diameter of the bung. (The narrow band is 12 mm and the wideband is 18 mm). I removed the OEM narrow band bungs that were welded to the pipes and replaced them with wideband bungs but the O2 sensors are a bit larger/ taller than the narrow band ones. So the rear pipe will need to be angled up a bit to clear the header pipe as much as possible while still being able to clear the heat shield. The front bung needs to rotate forward slightly and almost completely vertical. View attachment 30456View attachment 30457

That’s what I had to do as well, sneaked by fitting

Those are significantly different compared to the stock Akra the R comes with. A lot more curvy!!!!!

His and Hers. All we need is Warm
Weather to try my tune out .

So I started the tuning process today using the full auto tune software. So far so good. Logging data as I ride then view it, auto tune it, then reflash the ECU. Reading the ECU takes maybe 4 to 5 minutes and writing to the ECU is about the same. But I must have not torqued down one of the fairing panel screws tight enough and the muther ...... vibrated out...... $7.00 later for a small ass 3mm screw......Lesson learned.

What bike are you tuning ?

To be fair, I am not really tuning it. I am just riding it. The software makes all of the tuning adjustments. So I'm kind of cheating. But hey, if your not cheating, your not trying right!

Have you gone into map share? I am pretty sure a few map are loaded for you to try .

I do have that but there is currently only one map listed in their map files for the R model. It looks like that is for a Full Akro system. I presently am using the OEM Akro with the cat still in it. I'm hoping to change that though in the not to distant future.

Reminder . If you are tuning on the street , make sure to hold your RPM steady in different ranges collecting enough Data to auto tune .

I had to do a few runs than started to notice instant difference how it ran .

How’s it coming along ?

Pretty good, went for the 2nd ride today. I could tell the difference from yesterday, it was a little smoother. I will do the 3rd tomorrow and maybe a 4th. So we will see....So far so good.

Post up your tune as well when you are done - mine is posted as well .

it set for 13.5. It makes small incremental changes each ride.

I never did the answer for this , are tuning in every gear or just ringing 4th ?

Also I believe you have to hold the throttle down to collect enough data to autotune meaning can’t be quick throttle bursts .

Each ride it gets a bit closer. I basically just ride it and try to hit various gears with various throttle positions. Going 100% throttle does pose its challenges though. Especially at about 7000 rpm when the power really hits.

It does not adjust on the fly. After I get home I upload the data that was logged and plug it into the software. the Woolich auto tune software then looks at the AFR logs and adjusts wherever the target AFR is not close to 13.5. I then reflash the ECU with the new adjusted mapping. It tunes both the IAP map and the TPS map. In the software it has a predesignated cylinder offset so it takes that into account when making changes.

I do have the ability to go in and manually adjust various areas on the graph and have just now only started to play with that part.

I have used the Woolich support guys a few times and they have been very helpful. We did figure out that in order to log multiple AFR logs you currently have to unplug the Log Box in between each run as the data port has constant power going to it even if the bike is turned off. The Woolich guys are working on a firmware update to address this. Once I figured this out, it has not been an issue.

One nice thing with the system is if you go for a ride where you might log say 4 different runs,(maybe each time you stop for gas) when you go to load the AFR logs into the Woolich software you can open all 4 logs simultaneously so they all merge into one file. This give you more AFR data and a more accurate actual AFR.

So overall I'm pretty pleased with the setup and how it works. Reading the ECU takes approx 3 to 4 minutes. Writing to the ECU might be a little less. Maybe 2 to 3 minutes.
