Help Support Ducati Forum:

So I have the 2016 1199 R. It has the OEM Akro Ti system with the cat still in the cans. I did delete that dumb exhaust flapper though and completely removed it from the mid pipe. I have already done the smog/ Pair block off plates and deleted the AIS crap. Basically it injects fresh air from the air box into the exhaust system. They say its to help burn off unburnt fuel but its to help the bike pass emissions testing. If you leave it in place the O2 sensors wont be getting an accurate exhaust gas reading because there will be additional air diluting the exhaust gases. My plan is to upgrade to a full race system in the future but for now this looks like the best way to start maximizing the performance capability of the OEM stuff.

On a side note it may have already been brought up in this forum but I did figure out how to get/ make the AIS delete plug with out turning it off in the ECU. I found where to source the male plug that will fit the OEM plug and a 22 ohm 1 watt resistor to prevent a CEL on the dash.

So far we can still ride freely here as long as it’s not in a group. If that changes I think I’ll go to the shop and make a motorcycle version of those indoor training rollers they have for cyclist. Put the gear on, big fan in front and go nuts

So I learned something this weekend. If you are going to do the full auto tune set up regardless of what system you are using, the OEM narrowband O2 sensor positioning on the exhaust pipes is not interchangeable with wideband O2 sensors. I'm not talking about the diameter of the bung. (The narrow band is 12 mm and the wideband is 18 mm). I removed the OEM narrow band bungs that were welded to the pipes and replaced them with wideband bungs but the O2 sensors are a bit larger/ taller than the narrow band ones. So the rear pipe will need to be angled up a bit to clear the header pipe as much as possible while still being able to clear the heat shield. The front bung needs to rotate forward slightly and almost completely vertical. IMG_2177.JPGIMG_2176.JPG

Yes its the OEM Akro for the R model. I'm thinking there are some minor differences between the Akro and the OEM on the standard 1299. On a side note, I finally figured out how to resize my photos. I am a bit computer challenged.

First install I did was 1299 with the full Akra kit. Had zero fit issues looks like the bung is pretty tall. The bungs on my Akra and Storm pipes look a bit shorter
