Yes, another heat thread. Deal with it

Attached is a picture of what I believe to be a major source of heat resulting in heat rashes and blisters for riders who are 6'0+ tall. The two screws pictured get extremely hot (right side of the bike). The piece that they are supporting doesn't get nearly as hot as those 2 screws. If you don't believe me, ride around town and then touch them. Those of us who are tall seem to have direct contact with these screws. I've read alot of riders are getting burned or experience the heat rash in the same general area (right thigh above the knee). And from what I can gather is that all of these riders are tall. Shorter riders experience the heat but don't seem to get burned as bad as the taller riders.

My bike is currently at the shop getting a few aftermarket pieces put on so I brought this issue up to the tech and he said he will look into alternate material for those screws (he said maybe aluminum). I think I saw a thread similar to this last year but it has been deleted since then.

If my suspicions are correct and the tech finds a suitable replacement material that dissipates the heat (or doesn't get so hot) then I will be one happy camper. Just wanted to share and see if anyone has any input

I've noticed the extra heat from there too after I had the heat shields installed. I just try to remember to adjust my legs to keep them from touching that area.

Aluminum conducts heat better than steel (which is why it's often used for radiators). It will make the issue worse. The heat will dissipate faster when exposed to wind, but it will also heat up faster and get hotter while the engine is running.

yeah i adjust my legs too. but we shouldn't have to compromise our comfort/ride style to begin with :)

Do you have stomp grips ?

This seems to hold me in place I'm a taller bloke like you.. Plus I'm always conscious of where I put my legs.. Pre- heatshield recall I kinda burned my thigh on the engine.. If I'm coasting or in traffic I kinda hold my legs out like I'm on a mini bike...

there was a thread about a frame plug which seemed to help keeping distance to these parts. seemed to have helped, sorry i don't have time to search it.

conversely, rubbing something as simple as a good suntan lotion on my legs under my leathers seems to create a barrier blocking some of the heat...
Don't knock it till you tried it..

i don't have stomp grips. if i could actually 'hug' the bike with my legs without getting burned, i probably would!

Phil, i think i found what you were talking about. unfortunately that's not the area i'm talking about. i actually installed shift tech's subframe CF cover to try and address the problem; similar to what this guy did (clearly a DIY). i've attached the pic and circled the area of interest.

Scrapper, you may be on to something. I just need something that will cover those darn screws!!

Excessive heat on various parts of the leg depending on ones height is a recurring issue with Ducati ownership. I have found that wearing a LP knee support or similar over the hot spot is more effective than applying a heat guard to the actual bike.

I think I would like to paraphrase the OP and say Panigale gets hot..deal with it... This topic has been beaten to death... Ducati came up with an adjustment/solution which in my opinion works ...to a certain degree... Beyond that I don't know what to say....

Those little screw never bothered me at all.

The over 200F whole butt hot thing isnt cool at stoplights, but I can deal with it.

Heat wrap helped mine somewhat. Under 200 it helped alot

it definitely has been beaten to the death. i think i may try those carbonvani's from bellissimoto. Scrapper, are you aware of any discounts for forum members?

Cool, thanks. I just need the piece for the right side of the bike. Hopefully they can sell it separately..

This is honestly the best lead I've had so far. I asked the ducati tech handling my bike if these would help. We'll see what he comes back.

I just tie a bandanna around my right thigh where i usually feel the heat rising from the bike

Please articulate such claims...
