Bane just asked me what you may be talking about and I seriously have no clue man! Is it those Carbon head covers in pic? Best thing to do is contact Randy or Lyle to get skinny on this since Im lost. And YES all members get 10% off discount too.,
I just put on the side cover carbon pieces from Shift Tech and put heat tape behind each one thats all. Sorry Im not helpful on this gents!

no worries Gunny. i may end up ordering it, but even with the discount it still is kindof expensive. i'll see what my guy at the shop says after he reviews all of my emails from this morning lol.

i was surprised to find that shift-tech doesn't make a version of this. or anyone else for that matter

what heat? You guys must be riding in stop and go traffic. I removed those silly engine covers. I do only run my bike on the track now and I never feel heat.

To be honest, this is kind of what I did too. When I was using the bike for putting around town and commuting I was one of the main contributors to the heat threads. When I stopped using the bike for that and now only take it out for fun rides in the twisties the heat problem went away. IMHO, the new heat shields (which I don't have) didn't fix the heat, they moved it. Now you have burned huggers, hot screws, etc. Bottom line, this ...... is hot so you either have to wrap ace bandages around your legs, ride it incorrectly (not gripping the bike), wear thicker pants, come up with some Sanford and Son workaround like gluing .... to the bike or just stop riding it in situations where it gets north of 210 degrees. :)

my issue is solely with the 2 blazing hot screws. i either get burned or it forces me to ride incorrectly. both of which occur whether its 160 or 210 degrees. if i can get something over those screws or another workaround i will take it.

i agree 100% the bike will always be hot. my butt roasts and swamps up just as much as the other guy (even with a comfort seat) but i can handle that discomfort. there is a huge difference between discomfort and pain. my problem is of the latter and im sure all tall guys experience it.

I totally feel your pain. I just gave up on discussing it or trying to fix it. I have had the visible burns above the knee too, but I don't know what to do about it really other than the aforementioned workarounds. Maybe you can get a piece of rubber or stomp grip to stick over the top of that plastic cover? Of course, that might redirect whatever heat is trying to come out the screws through the head resulting in catastrophic engine failure. :)

Good luck!

Yeah I'm just about at the end with it as well. My last ditch effort may be those pieces from Bellissimoto. I'll see what my ducati tech has to say first. If nothing else, then I'll look into sewing a potholder to the inside of my jeans :D

I can tell you what will happen next. You will get a string of replies saying that you shouldn't be riding in jeans and you should wear full leathers even to Starbucks. This place is like groundhog day.

:)

NOLA

a guy seems to have figured it out on another forum. see attached. one is for keeping your leg somewhat off of the frame, and the other deals with the hot screws. i will certainly his screw remedy

Thse who complain about the heat, what gear are you wearing??

I dont have a problem with the heat

I cannot speak for anyone but me.

But, I wear jeans, alpinestars full boots (not the shorty style, the ones than come halfway up your calf), a Joe Rocket Textile jacket with armor, alpinestars gauntlets and a Shoei RF-1200 helmet.

I commute 3 out of 5 days a week to work. My ride is 19 miles one way. Lots of traffic lights and stop and go. I routinely see 197 to 205 F when moving. And 220 to 227 F when sitting at a light.

Thighs get a bit toasty, but I have not had any actual burns on me.

And here in North Carolina, the days right now are in the low 80's F and this summer, there are always multiple days over 100F.

I have had my 14 1199 Pani for a year and a month now. Love it completely.

Oh wait, you asked about those who Complain about the heat.

Sorry. I misunderstood. I don't complain about the heat. I have become accustomed to it now.

My only complaint is the tiny gas tank. I hate stopping every 100 miles to fill up. Want a bit more range.

If I had unlimited funds like some appear to, I'd be looking for a custom shop to build me a 5 gallon tank out of aluminum.

But alas, I am but an average Joe of modest means...
