Thanks for a great recap of the KTM, always fun to hear about other bikes
While riding like that is both thrilling and ballsy, it is exactly why both insurance rates and fatalities increase. This type of riding is beyond stupid. A few times in that video the hyper rider had some bad lines and one in particular where he could have literally been killed by oncoming traffic when he crossed the double yellow. I guess internet fame n bragging rights among friends who are constantly in a .... measuring contest is worth the risk. One day a couple of months ago in the same area i was riding, a rider on a 1199R damn near caused one of my buddies on his 848 to crash simply because he decided to take the inside lane on a left hand turn n blow by my friend who obviously had no idea he was coming behind him at such speed. Idiots!
Thanks for the advice! I am thinking I will go for the trade. First, I have two questions: Have you had any warranty issues with the 1290R? Also, is it good in the twisties? I know it will not be a Pani, but is it confidence inspiring at lean angle?
No issues with mine, although there's been several with wobbly rear hubs. When at the dealer, lean the bike on the kickstand so rear wheel is off the ground and shake to see if there's any play.
Stock fueling is already good but a full system, Akra map, removal of SAS, and new air filter makes a sizeable improvement. I've got the full Akra and it sounds fantastic and pulls hard.
Stock Sportsmarts are aight but Q3's are a big improvement. ZERO issue with lean angle. People are already racing these.
Have fun
