I have now seen 5 bikes with aftermarket sprocket set ups experience this issue since it happened to me so I thought i would post some pics how to ensure this doesn't happen to you. I posted on different mfg compatibility issues with respect to the flange and carrier that you choose. Here are...
Just want to know if it's possible to remove the rear sprocket without breaking the chain? If so, what's the easiest method for doing so with this eccentric style hub?
Hi all,
I have a 1299 S and been told that changing the standard 39 teeth rear sprocket to a Pani R 41 teeth sprocket makes a big improvement to the usability and drive.
Has anyone done this to their 1299 or have any comments?
Cheers
Stu
Does anyone have any experience cleaning the front sprocket on the 1199? I looked around the bike and there has to be an easier way than what I have in mind. Which is to remove the shifter rod (clutch bolt in the way). Remove the cover to clean the sprocket.
Thanks
So, I want to switch my 14 base to the 41T rear sprocket.
Instead of getting a conversion kit, I was thinking of just getting the 41T rear sprocket from an 1199R to replace my 39T. Then just get a new chain.
Anyone know how many links I will need?

I had a 1199 S with a 41 tooth rear sprocket. I didn't try with the original setup (39 tooth) since it has been modified before I brought the bike but I really loved my 1199 S with 41 tooth!
Obviously, I crashed my 1199 S. Now, I ride a brand new 1299 S with the original setup (39 tooth). At...
So I just installed a new chain and new sprockets (Supersprox 41T rear)... after all was said and done the teeth are pretty damn close to the swing arm. Of course I spun the wheel multiple times and everything seems to be just fine, however I did freak out there for a sec... This being my first...
Just changed my front sprocket to a 14 tooth, vs. the 15 tooth stock and am very happy with the improvement!
Admittedly, my commute the last few days has been in Monsoon-like rain, but still...
The way I see it, the 1299 is geared to do 199 mph at redline in 6th (as per gearing commander's...

I am in the market for a chain and sprocket kit now. I'm gonna stick with the stock 525 size (525, right?). Proly stick with the stock gearing too. Where have you guys found the best deals?
I went to a lightweight 41T kit with a quick change rear. Of course, it came with a longer DID 520 ZVMX chain. IIRC, its something like two links longer.
Can I safely go back to a 39T sprocket without changing the length of the chain? Would anything really be effected chassis wise?
Not sure if it is common knowledge on this forum, but the front sprocket is prone to popping off with track abuse. Has happened to a few owners on here.
Goes without saying, you don't want that to happen at speed. I have now safety wired it. Photo attached for reference.
