Nah just kidding. I'm from the US, just north of Boston MA. I've been riding since 1996 and have had a handful of bikes. My last bike was my first Ducati, '11 848EVO Arctic white silk. Fell in love with it the moment I threw a leg over it and haven't even thought about buying a jap bike since. Not that there's anything wrong with them but...I think you guys know what I mean.

Stopped by the dealer today to check out the bike for the first time in person and they happened to be prepping it at the time. I had them throw the Termi's on while it's there. Figured I may as well just do it now instead of hemming and hawing about it later. They started another 1199S up with the pipes already installed and boy does it sound nice!

Can't wait to read others feedback as well as give some of my own.

Thanks! They really do. I've been reading around here a little bit and others have mentioned the engine noise is a bit loud and it is. To my untuned ear, it almost sounds like the old dry clutch. I have a feeling going down the road with the Termi's, I won't hear much engine noise but I could be wrong.

Ha, I like your headline. That would've started a .... storm on here I bet. Welcome.

Hahaha! Really caught my attention. I thought holy ...., no, really, but why? Oooohhh...congrats on the new bike and welcome!

Thanks all! Picked up the S yesterday morning on my way up north to visit some friends for the weekend. Sorry to say that I haven't even put a single mile on it. Hopefully I'll get it registered and put a few miles on it before next weekend.

Hello Kman,

great title which (in my case) is true ;-).
The 1199S will be my fist "real" bike (only a scooter). Although I will only order it at the end of the year for the beginning of the next season.
I have my driver's license now for exactly 13 years and was never able to afford a real bike (University, year of internship in the US, car etc...) but rode various bikes in the past years (rental, friends, test drive). The only reason for me to do my driver's license was in order to own a Ducati superbike and nothing else (I know a little crazy but who cares ;-))
I rode the 1199S exactly one week ago and I was surprised at how easy it handles.
Most people on this board recommend to buy a small bike at first, even a used 600 bike, but in my case I found it a lot easier to ride the 1199S compared to a Kawasaki ZX-6R from 2005 (which is a used 600 ;-)). The bike is very light and compared to the 996S very "civilized" at lower rpms. And thanks to all the electronic helps, I don't think that it is more dangerous to drive than a used bike with a smaller engine and without the electronic stuff.

And now have a lot of fun with the ".... storm" ;) (don't worry guys, you won't change my mind no matter what you tell me)

Cheers

mike
