1299 Big Bore Kit

Keen to hear more on this, contemplating keeping my R now I can get clutchless downshift.

On my first TD at roebling I ran a 1:21 on the pani and a 1:22 a half year later in the race on a SV650

Same at barber, even Better: TD 1:45 on the pani, race 1:42 on Sv

:D

The Roebling one is really surprising because of how fast that track is and how long that straight is.

But the Barber one isn't as surprising because there really aren't any straights. Top speed at Barber is somewhere in the 140's.

Ive actually turned faster times on the R6 at Barber (PB of 1:32.8) than I have on the RSV4. But that is mostly because the RSV4 is a heavy ... pig that doesn't like to change directions. :D

Although, the Aprilia looks pretty good, small, and pretty light though.

Im bored and reading through old threads. I just wanted to point out that is not accurate. The RSV4 is one of the heaviest Liter bikes off the showroom floor. And the worst part is that all of the weight is in the motor and chassis. So it doesn't lost much weight when it is race prepped.

My R1 in full street trim (headlights, etc) is still WAY lighter than my race prepped RSV4 with all of the unnecessary stuff removed, and other typical things like Lightweight battery, Titanium bolts everywhere, cut rear rotor, etc etc.

It looks small and compact, but the RSV4 is heavy as hell, which is one of the reasons I am getting this 1299S. I will put the street plastics back on the Ape and use it as a street bike.

I stand corrected then. Although, the wet weight of the RSV4 and R1 is very close. It seems Ape doesn't have much weight to lose, after you take off the street gear. Your right though, the RSV4 certainly does feel light. The Ducati 1199/1299 series bikes are very light for sure. My 1199S feels very light to me, but still a little top heavy like twins all do.

I haven't looked at the specs for the 15 R1 yet, but yes...the RSV4 and old R1 were very close (along with the MVF4, they were the 3 heaviest Liter bikes).

The difference is that the other bikes get much lighter in race trim, the Ape doesn't. You should try to push the Ape up into my toy hauler, it feels like a Hyabusa (especially after I have just finished loading the R6 and 675).

It is a big heavy pig. When you put its weight, with the fact that it is 20+hp down to the Panigale, BMW and ZX10, it is simply not a good race bike in Superstock form.

People think it is great because of how well it does in WSBK. But the WSBK RSV4 has about as much in common with the stock RSV4 as the Grave Digger Monster truck has in common with my truck. The gas tank, triples, forks, shock, complete swingarm, engine build, electronics, brakes, wheels, everything is different on the WSBK's. And in SBK form with an unlimited budget to throw at them, they are fantastic. In SSTK form, not so much. I learned that the hard way. Now I am about $26k deep into a bike that will be used for nothing more than going to the gym and back.

Are we talking about a bore kit to take the 1199 to 1299 (or 1285, you know what I mean)?

Or are we talking about a kit to take the 1299 to 1385cc?

I wanna be like Harley. I want a 1600 motor in my panigale.

...I can't even meet up with my friends to ride this morning I'm still healing from the blisters of last week

I'll make an offer - $6k :D

So Chris, do you work like 8 weeks straight and then get a couple weeks off to go racing?

Umm, im pretty sure I don't want to know what you and your friends do when you meet up.

You got me there. It was hot. I got blisters from getting soaking wet and the steam coming off the exhaust. Steam burn.

Don't know about you guys, but I have always felt that the one thing the Panigales have always lacked and could improve upon is POWER..

I do too, It will be addressed on the next superbike platform with 215hp. I cant wait.

...stalling including.
