Dealer called 1299 is on the boat to USA

Got a call from dealer on the 15th Tax day. 1299 is on its way. I live in the Boston Ma. area.

Just as a heads up for those waiting, my bike was due to be March production, I was probably one of the first in the UK to order. Had a call from dealer, my bike has just rolled off the line and is likely to be here in around 10 days! Sounds as if production is well underway

How's the seat compared to the 899s? Photos please !

I've heard it's better more comfy than 1199 but I don't have any experience with 899 or 1199 this is my first Ducati . I like it,it's not flat like my S1000rr it has a little indent it to it and it's very gripping witch I like you don't slide around like on my BMW it's planted

Bike arrived on Friday and I was able to pickup on Saturday. Appears like distribution from East to West is accurate, however there are some areas which seem like distribution is a bit slower.

Now if it will stop snowing and raining in CO, I may get to ride it!

I just put 70 mls on 1299s very nice bike, nice quality. Quick shifter way better than s1000rr 14, so smooth up and down, But But it's not a Beemers Power, I think BMW is stronger , maybe I need to ride for a little more to brake the engine. so far Beemer feels way stronger in the first 900 mls (brake in period),but It does feel like you riding something special and different , sound is very deep and loud at the same time under power than my aftermarket Full
Ti Austin Racing Exaust it's very loud for a stock system, it runs cooler , not as hot as BMW

I have not ridden the bike, so please just take this as a thought given that I can't imagine there is much difference in the measured acceleration of the two bikes. The BMW power comes on way up the power band whereas the Ducati comes on sooner, and doesn't rev nearly as hard. It could be that the BMW feels much faster just because of the way the power builds and keeps building.

Back in the day, as in the early '80s I was road racing an inline 750F Honda and also had a 1100F. When I rode the Inteceptors (V4s) they never felt all that fast to me because the power band was so flat. But I ran two 750s and a 1000 Interceptor in endurance races at the same track I was running my then outdated 750F in sprint races. I can sure tell you that even though the Interceptors didn't feel all that fast, they were. How power comes on can really screw with perception.

Peaky engines (example Yamaha TZ250) tend to feel fast. Flat torque curves feel slow. It would be interesting to know how the Audi R10 TDI (LM prototype) diesel drivers describe it. I am guessing pretty typical flat turbo-diesel feel...they (and Peugeot), have shown they can get around Circuit de la Sarthe pretty damn quick.

Excellent point , it's exactly how it feels flat torque true out the power band, and with Beemer you get this Rush up top at like 9000rpms all the way up , and that's very addictive and gets people hooked on BMWs

I notice it's hard to retrieve the kickstand with my Sidi boots. I had to do it with my hand :(
I wonder if there wil be an aftermarket kickstand to fix this problem

This has always been a thing with the Panigale. I've found the new R is massively fustrating....... but then I have been using different boots lately.

There are other threads on here about it, but try the 'toe technique' :D

Basically reach in under the foot peg with and and then catch it with your toe rather than your heel. Possibly just tilt the bike slightly over to the right also........... works for me!!

Very frustrating as I ordered mine back in the beginning of December and was told early April. Still waiting with no exact due date

Just got a call from Frasers in Melbourne to say that the expected customer delivery date for my 1299S is 10th May. ;) He also said that they hadn't received any into the showroom yet, so I'm not sure what to make of the story he gave when I called him last week about bikes having already arrived in Sydney . . . unless my order is coming from a subsequent batch, but he couldn't confirm that either. I'm almost certain that he's been stringing me along these past couple of months - either that or he genuinely had know idea what was going on and was just making stuff up. Anyway, it does feel better to finally have a date for the bike. Now, if only I could trust the date he gave, then I'd truly be happy.

Exactly.

Due to the way the engine sounds and puts down power, a V-Twin (and even a V4) will "feel" slower. Even the 3cyl motors feel slower (like the 675).

The I4's power band ramps up drastically at higher RPM's and with the way the motor screams, it just seems faster.

However, the power-to-weight ratio and acceleration numbers do not lie.

hey mate I got a call today too the salesman said that they should have them mid may 15-20th, here's hoping ;) I think they were stringing me along as well

My bike has arrived! Lol.. but said it wont be prepped til Wednesday :( .. oh well I got alot going on anyway

Seriously? I was just going to comment those are the ugliest things I've ever seen on a motorcycle. GSXR's had better looking rims 10 years ago!

Ya I don't know... The chicken foot on my old s never really appealed to me, the base ones were not my cup of tea at all.... These are kinda fresh, but now that I look they do look bulky. I'd have to see them in person. Funny how tastes change from person to person lol

To each his own!

I hadn't even give. The base a gander until the person put a photo of it up! Either way I'd rather own a base with those wheels than no 1299 at all ;)

I'm one of those people that generally like oem rims but not this time! Although they do look "bulky" surprisingly they don't look at heavy as the 1199 base rims. Those things with their spokes just made me gain weight looking at them.

I'm not too impressed with this years S rims either. Oh well, they're light that's what matters.

I might pop in then to gawk at your bike.
