New to the forum and Ducati. I wanted to tell my experience with the 1299 which has 1380 miles now. At first I was not planning any mods since the bike is more powerful than I can handle. My best friend also bought a leftover 2012 1199S with termi and up map. I was fine until I rode his panigale! Smooth off idle and very linear power delivery with no dips and rattles anywhere. So now I wanted the same drivability. Started with drilling two O2 sensor holes before the cats, sounded very good, and had dealer install Ducati racing evo map for $500.
Bike felt and sounded better but the low speed, up to 4k and the weak midrange were still annoying me. Further map adjustments helped but still not the same as the 1199. I won't spend the ridiculous money the want for termi or crapovic. Meanwhile I got Rapid bike racing module, installed it and things got better. Yaman is a really great guy and always there for the customer.
Next, I spend a Sunday making a 2.5" slip on that wraps behind the oil pan and connects to a 3" I.D. 12" long perforated dual cone muffler without packing. Also removed the exhaust valve cable and motor. Total cost $270.
It sounds a little louder than Austin Racing system and that's what I want.
Now I have a huge flat spot on the midrange and after that I hold for dear life!
That's with the Ducati map. I reconnected the RB module and Yaman checked the map via TEAMVIEWER, made some adjustments, I gave it .5-1 degrees timing by trial and feel and it runs very strong, great midrange and much better at slow speeds. I can keep 3rd gear at 2500-3000 RPMs with a little chugging but a lot better than before. As the auto tune adapts it gets better continuously.
Put about 20 miles with this set up in 55 degree weather and I could feel that it was adapting. Power is extremely good, F wheel comes up even at 60% throttle. I don't consider myself a great rider so I am cautious with the throttle. I do want as perfect as possible drivability however. next weekend I will install the raised handle bars to make it it more comfortable.
Still not as smooth as my buddy's 1199 but it has more and explosive power!
Next, I am putting a shorter muffler 2.5 in to 3" out perforated and packed cone. Also working on getting Inconel 625 tubing to remake the rest of the pipes.
It should be throatier and a little quieter. I was ready for Dyno tuning but the RB module negates that for now. In all honesty, I was very disappointed with my first Ducati at the beginning but now I enjoy it. My previous sport bike, 04 ZX10 with full exhaust and PC had set the standards very high. Still miss it.
If I had done more research, I would have opted for an 1199R.
Ducati should have included the extras the R has with race only label for the price they charge. Then again, I love modifying things! The 09 V Max I traded for the panigale was the only bike I left stock. Great bike but not thrilling like the 1299S.
Sorry for the long thread but I hope someone may benefit from my experience and I possibly receive good advice from others.

Louder than the AR exhaust? Guess it's a good thing you can read. Far as your hearing goes, I doubt earplugs even help at that point.

Lets see some images of your creation and props to you on modding up your bike the way you want it. BTW, welcome to the site.

Yes, it is loud! But now cars that come out of side streets can hear me and are more carefull. Loud pipes save lives is valid.
I can adjust the sound level easily, free flow is the wanted result. Back pressure can also be increased. I wanted to see the effect of uncorking the exhaust flow has on this bike without spending a fortune.
I have an SC- project slip on on order but it's still on development, two months away.
The idea is to maximize engine efficiency and smoothen the power curve as far as I can go on my own.
After that point, it's Dyno time.
As I said, the Rapid Bike module is still adapting and it works extremely well with this slip on.

Well, apparently it's working here but don't count on it always. Drivers can't always tell where the noise is coming from. Increasing your visibility is more effective. Flash your brights if not sure of driver's attention.

Pics should now be viewable....

Not bad for a home brew. Reminds me of the SC-Project exhaust. Clean it up/powder coat and you might have something there.

Standby for those who drink the haterade...

I'd probably try one more silencer on the pipe going forwards, but apart from that it's something I could try to make :)

Definitely way better looking than the SC.. Maybe you could make a cover on each side (just like Austin Racing). Do you mind posting a video?

Cool to see people do their own ..... Instead of 4k for an exhaust. I'm about to start my own as well. Good job man

I would like to see that .
