15,000 Mile Service Cost

Now you know why Ducati hasn't come out with a service manual yet!

How can the poor dealers survive with such small percentage gains on the sale of each bike. Ducati feels that they need to get more money into the poor dealers pockets who just cant make it without the crazy service rates and what used to be crazy early service intervals.

If you havent sensed it, those last statments drip with sarcasm!

Question: how far do you think a person could get by talking to the service manager and saying, "This is going to take a lot of hours, so how about a bulk discount?"

Live in a country that is bankrupt and you only have to pay $40 an hour max.

The frameless design that makes the bike so special is going to have drawbacks but hey worthwhile compromise IMHO

That's good to know when I get mine serviced as I was expecting to get shafted on the labour costs.

Yea, I know what you mean. Lime you, I live in the US too, and we are trillions of dollars in debt. Makes you want to move to some tropical island to live out your days...

Mine would probably be off warranty by the time I hit 15k, It has 6K right now bought it new in May 12'.

There is a lots to be said about living in the islands of the eternal spring.

We have year round 22-28C temps with nights never lower than 18C. Never humid and mountains with hundreds of KM's of twisties to play on.

Down side is tourism is the only business here and when money is tight there are less people coming (good for mountain road fun bad for jobs).

Slow and quiet pace of life thought and a cheap place to live, you can survive on forces pensions out here which aren't the most generous of things!

Fortunatly I can't get in quite as many miles in a year so it'll probably be a few before I hit 15,000. But hopefully by then I'll be proficient enough to do the valve checks and adjustments myself. :D

yeah, not a huge surprise. Just to drop the sump to change the clean out the screen entails removing the headers.

Tho I'm wondering how many panis will ever see 15k miles.

I hope most of them. It would be a shame to get such a beautiful work of art and not be on it very much.

I bought the maintenance plan when I got my Pani as I intend on riding to get all six prepaid maintenances ;)

main reason is a valve inspection and what has to be done to get there.

Be prepared to either 1) bend over at the 15k mark. The damage from Ducati Newport Beach was $1898. The entire bike has to be disassembled to get at the valves, requiring 16 hours of labor. The valves were all within spec, too....which is good, but also means the major service wasn't even required.

Maintenance intervals might be 2x what they are on the 1098/1198, but the cost is 2x as much.

Good info there Antihero....when my bike hits the 15k mile mark...will have them perform the 15k mile service without opening up the engine...oh well, if my dealer agrees though...as that may void my warranty.

my dealer said you paid $600 more then your suppose too and he couldn't figure it out. he said you should have paid around 1200-1300

Wow - only 30% less service cost at 15K mi than a Lamborghini Gallardo costing 10x as much as a Panigale R.

When I get to the 15K mark, il be in here in these threads seeing how many are out of spec.

If its like many bikes ive owned, I will wait for the sweet spot ignoring this recommendation and catch it just before most are seeing out of tolerance issues
