15,000 Mile Service Cost

.Still it hurts the old pocket book, I used to get my valves done for $350 on my ZX10R.....

Shim under bucket valves are pretty easy to do (assuming you can get at them without taking it completely apart). I've done the ones on my Sprint ST and will probably do the ones on my new Speed Triple.
Desmodromic is a bit more complicated though the older air cooled 2 valves were fairly straightforward and could be done (relatively) easily. The 4 valve stuff, otoh, gets complex pretty quickly. Not something I'd do (especially on the frameless 1199).

The quoted services on the 1199/1299 aren't bad though. Compared to my old 748 ($700-$800 every 6k miles) it's not near as bad as people make it out to be.

Damn phl you still haven't done it yet? I read this entire thread last night and you were one of the few that posted on here first. I thought you took your motor to Ducati 2 years ago LOL

Haha, right? Rode way less last year due to racing and even less this year due to new house and job duties...

That's life... But hey, I rode to work yesterday :D

New to the panigale club :) are there any service manuals out there yet? I've read on here about the digital manual for a range of ducati's which I don't need. I would love to do the 17k myself (auto-tech)! After working at high end dealers/race shops I don't trust anyone but myself and the few passionate techs out there.

if you are in Vegas, check out bellissimoto ;)

I saw my bike while the tech was working on the front cylinder valves, he was using a very specialized ducati tool to do the job, so be aware of this if your going to attempt a DIY.

116$ an hour at ducati detroit. I was told 1500$ for 15000 mile service, I can't wait. Support the techs.

I've put 15K on my 1199S in little over a year here in Boston and I'm up against the 15K service. Is it possible to only inspect the rear head / valve gaps to determine if the (more difficult to access) front cylinder check is even necessary?? I watched Ducati replace the rear rocker cover on my bike and it only took about 15 minutes to crack the rear cover from roll-in.

Does an in-spec rear cylinder = an in-spec front cylinder? My warranty is up in 7 months.

Sorry, doesn't work that way. Even if the rear was in spec that doesn't necessarily mean that the front is. I doubt the dealer would even be willing to entertain the idea.

Anytime I've done half ass work on a bike (never the duc) it has bit me in the ass later.

For those who wants to bring their own supplies and save a few dollars.

Shop rate here is 99/hr

Hmm I recognize this quote....the bike is still at Seacoast Ducati for 15k service. I'm the first between Seacoast and Riverside to get this service.. We'll see how it goes. Few quirks but love my 1199.

I just had my 1199S 15k service and went over the entire process with the tech at Seacoast in NH. I believe Kyle's one of the highest regarded master techs in U.S.

You don't have to disassemble the whole bike to do the valves etc. For front head/valves you pull radiators as a unit. That's it! For rear head access you pull the seat, tank and seat stay (optional).

For the mesh screen you loosen header and drop pan.

1350 bucks. 10 hrs. This includes ALL fluids, re-torquing air box, spark plugs, lubing axles, chain adjustment, cleaning radiator, etc etc.
