Gotta say, I may be too much form over substance, but there is no way in hell I'd rather have that R than my Tri.

I don't get the big uproar over the heat period.

The Panigale was never meant for city traffic, cruising by your local mall, or the 15 minute hike through suburbia to the local Starbucks.

Our bikes are meant for endless twisties, and wide open stretches.

Even living in Florida I don't find issues with the heat. Then again I'm never riding in shorts or in the places mentioned above.

Thanks for the pics. I see pros and cons to both heat shields.:)

As per the official "real men's Ducati handbook"....

And I quote...ahem, " there shan't be any heat shielding other than the original design or as dictated by those of racing teams or there of with respect to race modifications to said shielding in order to reduce over all weight."

There.

That settles it once and for all.

Thusly; that POS will not be part of my R whence it arrives.

I remember being very annoyed with the heat and almost burned once until I changed my gear and then the heat became tolerable. I guess I will wait until this plays out with more pics and more pics with riders and more opinions and the whole parts situation....then I can decide when it's most hot....in August.

is it in my head

I dont know if im buggin out but damn my favorite bike looks like shyt!!!!!!!!!!!! Is it the photo with the sunlight coming in ? Because the paint on the desmo and the other ducati appears to be richer this looks like cheap paint and the color appears too light the heat shield is to each his own i think its horrible and honestly if they say the old one is unavailable the sale would be off immediately !!

That looks ridiculous. I really dont notice the heat at all. Maybe im just used to it from my 916, and 999r.

Good i hope none of you cranky old ..... get this heat shield, then i will have one up on you finally! Why is it we only keep seeing the right side of the bike? WTF Can noone take photos of both sides for us? I really do not think that if the bike came stock with that cover, that it would have swayed any of your buying decisions.

I actually like this new look, I'm getting it done as soon as they're available ...heat/safety issues need to get addressed first.. only then we could have more fun riding this bike longer.. (Without any burns)

Get a full Termi' and get it ceramic coated it sounds better and handles the heat far better.

I know it costs a lot more to address heat in this way, however it is well worth it.

I don't really find it ugly and if it does the job all the better. Good on ducati for coming up with a solution. Owners complained, and reports of burns where made. They took the feedback and did what they could.
Can't wait for to get mine installed, my thighs will thank me

I agree 100%!!!!! For the Panigale owners who reside in cool/cold countries - you are the lucky ones...and will not need this updated heatshield.

For us Panigale owners who reside in hot temperate climates- unlucky ones- we really need this updated heatshield...WE REALLY NEED IT BADLY! IT AINT MANDATORY ANYWAYS...but i'm putting it on...

I like this a lot:)

I am curious to see which of the shields (head vs. header) is most effective in reducing the heat. The head shield actually looks clean, but the header shield is a little more bulky than I had hoped for!

Apparently, coating the rear cylinder and header-loop in dog .... will also massively reduce heat.

...... I'm not going be doing that either.
