Even though I haven't taken it out on a longer spirited ride, I feel the difference.. The R feels like it pulls so much stronger and faster than the S. I understand the difference in sprocket would affect the mid range which was not done to the S.. The bike just spins up so much faster!!

Agreed. Mine goes in for it's first service Saturday. I can't wait to start opening her up!:D

Hey Zaster, I was on vacation for the last 4 weeks and travelled to New Mexico too. Visited the dealership in Albuquerque. He had an R in the showroom. Visited Taos, Santa Fe and stayed in Alb for 3 days. You have some nice roads, like the Turquoise trail and Hwy 64 in the north.

I heard nothing but good things about Alburqerque.

I think "R" is an overkill for the street...an untamable beast! :D

contragts!

They were very nice guys and although I didn't buy anything he gave me a PJ Ducati t shirt. We talked for over an half hour about Ducati in Europe, the factory and WSBK.

Had a chat to our dealer. Trading my 2012 1199S in on a new 1199R. Shipment due in NZ is end of October beginning November.

I'm told they are the 2014 bikes and that there are no changes from this year.

That is interesting but not sure if I believe that yet. So much rumors with the changes in the race next year and changes to the new/different R to meet the rules.

I hear you forsure. But I'm assured I am getting a 2014 model. So guess we will see. Had two different dealers in NZ tell me the same thing - no changes. guess we will know soon enough.

Yeah, I would wait and see. Generally, the dealers will say anything to sell previous year models.

I dont know how NZ dealers know this early. The official news will be out in November, along with the 899 and etc.

If 2014 comes with different and better stuff and you end up getting "2013" model...that would suck. At least, you should be able to make the decision after seeing the comparison.

Sorry, just saw your post. If you or anyone hangs in my neck of the woods, please let me know and maybe we can do some riding or just have fun;)
