If I'd been able to find an R1M for sale, I would have thought twice about picking up my 2014 HP4. It's a very, very cool bike.
If choosing between a s1K and a Panigale, it all depends on how much street riding you plan on doing.
The main reason why I didn't buy a 1299 was because despite the much improved suspension, electronics and power, the inherent heat from the rear header that it forces you to live with is still there.
I test rode one on a 95deg August day and knew within 10 minutes that it wasn't the bike for me. If I was looking for an expensive track bike maybe, but riding it around town or the 1hr it takes me to get to the twisties would be a nightmare. It was a tough call, but caveat emptor.
R1M all the way. If you can't find one, look into a leftover HP4.
