He picked it up here on Long Island at Gold Coast Motorsports www.goldcoastmotorsports.com and I only deal with the owners son Ben who is his partner. He always gives me and my friends really good discounts off of msrp and works well with us on the prep, and delivery costs. Ive bought 3 bikes from them and even my first bike I bought from him Feb 26th 2015 when I walked in on a snowy night at 650pm. 10 mins before closing. I looked at the red 2015 BMW S1000R with premium package. He came up to me and said its snowing. You should be home but since youre here you want a bike. i said I want this one. Give me $1200 off msrp no freight or prep. He said $1000 off and no prep. I said first service free since Im paying freight. He said leave me a $1000 deposit and we have a deal and your info and Ill email you the paperwork tomorrow. I said done and have bought 2 more bike from him because of his easy personality and have sent many others to him. His sales people might get annoyed but business is business. They pick up my bikes and bring them back for services and warranty issues and have sent pickup trucks to get me twice because my panigale stalled out twice for issues relating to a powercommander and still warrantied the work. Why would I go anywhere else for my next bike or my dads or refer anyone to another place.

Hate to burst your big bike bubble but there is no such thing as a 1299R. I was being a little sarcastic.

I always love these "I got my bike cheaper than anyone else" stories. I must be going to the wrong dealers.

Excuse my ignorance for writing 1299 Panigale R instead of just Panigale R. You can send the grammar police after me. And regarding the cheaper than anyone else comment. I appreciate your smug comment however when its the end of the month. Snowing like crazy for the last 2 days. And its almost closing time you can get a deal. And if you read the post entirely I said I spoke to Ben the OWNER who doesnt make him money on commission. And after sending him many other clients who he took care and me buying 2 more bikes from him between Feb 2015 and November 2016 and sending my dad who got his bikes there I think me getting decent discounts is unheard of. So if you choose to be a hater enjoy by all means. You seem annoyed in your post that I said 1299R instead of Panigale R. I was having fun writing the post and giving gold coast motorsports a great plug since they really are a great dealership to work with and have bent over backwards for me and other every since they bought the place from the previous owner who had the worst reviews Ive ever seen and would not be caught dead buying a bike from his. These new guys revamped the entire dealership to make it look modern. Arent pushy salesmen and take care of customers with their great discounts on all apparel as well.

And lastly can you please show me where I wrote that I got my bike cheaper than anyone else. All I said was I got $1000 off the BMW S1000R. I dont think I mentioned how much I got off on the 1299 or S1000RR? I just said I got a discount

The 84mm bore size previously mentioned doesn't make much sense to me. Unless there are two distinct variations of the V4 motor that will share some external parts...

84MM bore - Makes perfect sense for a 1200-1300 V4 sportbike or power cruiser and maybe even a true sports tourer too. But...IMO The engine cases would be then be too big and heavy for 1000CC class SBK, which is limited to a 81mm bore.

So I'm thinking that Ducati must be working on a couple similar but different V4 engines. One for competing in WSBK and another will be for high torque street platforms that will be premiering a few years down the road. Pretty smart move considering that Euro V is coming.

One of the articles mentioned that the base engine will be a 1200cc motor, and that the "R" version will be a 1000cc motor for WSBK requirements.

Ok ok....... I'm going to get in so much trouble for this, but..... cycler's friend wasn't the only one with a 1299R. It was supposed to be a super secret model

And yes you got me too haha. I can take the ribbing when I make an ass of myself and write the wrong thing. Would have been better if it were april fools

The picture on the front cover of InMoto looks awesome - those termi's look nice. That's a great looking bike, even if its not a million miles from the 1299, who cares.

I just hope that Ducati opt for lightness/agility/handling over power. Oh and style too (please no massive Euro4/5 side exhausts, I want those underslung ones!)

some more from todays leak

I reckon this will be worth buying a, when do they usually announce the finished bike from when spy shots are gathered.

It will usually be announced at the shows in Italy in September and released early 2017. The R version a year later.

I wish this was the world we lived in............ it's not. When's the last time you saw a motorcycle magazine praise a bike for it's lightness and handling and say "this bike's better even though it has less power"? Never. It's power, that's all the "market" cares about. And not even "real world" power, it's dyno graph power. Just look at all of the comparison articles, dyno shootouts, etc. It's the default conversation for people who can't ride (i.e. most motojournalists) because it's objective. Handling, agility, etc. are subjective. If I had MY way, we'd have a 130hp 599 Panigale twin. That would be the shiz-nitz!

...or a 599 SuperMono (with the 130hp of course)

Have you ever had any of those Kramer bikes show up at any of your track events? They look kind of like what many............ok, maybe like 4 people, wish existed.

Agreed. Just wouldn't want them to ruin the handling for the sake of more BHP (and weight) when in reality the 1299 ain't exactly lacking power.

No, but those look pretty awesome. I've always lusted after a Pierobon or NCR also. Seriously considered building a Pierobon with a 400 scrambler engine for the Ultralight race class, and finally came to my senses on that.
