2020 V4S Bren Tune Review

Wow these Bren guys have absolutely gone bonkers. I don't know why people are using this crap might as well stick a Rapid Bike on the bike and have it not much better then what comes from the factory. Wake up people tuning these bikes like the superbike teams do with stuff that's available off the shelf dyno not needed is out there and not expensive.
As someone that is new to the Duc world, can you elaborate for me? When you Google for Panigale V4 tuners, not much come up other than Bren.... When my bike comes in, I'd like to get it tuned to run properly vs. the EPA tune, and it seems like people don't especially care for the Akra tune that comes with that system either. Bren is actually local to me, within 15 minutes, but I don't want to pay for a tune and not get anything from it.

I decided to drop my Speciale off with my SF and let them use both. I think that will be the best bet. They’ve done plenty so why not do it bike specific.

Clearly you feel confident that Bren provides a quality tune. I have no skin in this, my only information about them is what I've read here. If they provide a full tune, load based, not just a WOT tune, I'd be all over it and bring my bike to them. Please report back after they have worked on your bikes.

It has been surprising to me that finding tuning information about these bike is so difficult, given that they're no new models at all.

The Woolich package is what you will want to go with should be available any day now. It will do everything the 99 package does. Auto tune fuel/ignition maps using widebands and so many other features plus easy to use software. Also the strain guage shifter is great part of adding to package so just leave the bike as is for now.

Yeah, you can buy a full tuning suite from dim sport or alien tech to do your own tuning. Both are not cheap but if you’re really serious about tuning isn’t a bad option.

thanks. i don't have any tuning experience or skill. i'm hoping Mick will clarify his earlier post claiming there are inexpensive "off the shelf dyno not needed" options available.

it's my impression that tuning options are readily available for nearly every popular sport bike except the v4 - is that the case? is the v4 ecu simply more difficult to crack? maybe going stand-alone (i.e. MoTec) is the only viable option until the Woolich release?

Yes so you won't need any tuning skills the live image mapping from Woolich will do it all for you. The log box and wideband sensors will get installed on the bike then you will ride the bike. The software will auto tune the logged ignition/fuel maps so you typically would wash n rinse few times now you have a bike tuned exactly no dyno needed.

Thanks. That sounds promising.

I watched a video on their site and it looks like the bike is hooked up to a laptop when he's doing the auto tuning. What you're saying is that there is a way to do it without that laptop attached to it?

Its not an expensive package since it works phenomenal and throw a extra $500 you will want the strain guage shifter as well.

You only plug the laptop in to read or write the maps. Only thing that will be on the bike while logging maps is the log box. Once bike is tuned it can be removed. Yes widebands will be needed to collect motor data in the full range. Narrow bands won't work.

The Woolich kit looks pretty cool but the one for the 1299 with the wideband sensors $1.040.00 USD. Yikes.

I really like the idea of going to wideband sensors...

$1,000 for a kit that has dual wide bands, logging, and auto tune is a pretty damn good deal. I guess the question would be is how well does it work?

Its real simple I been using the platform already on the 99's. The log box and widebands collect AF data on the bike while riding it (15-20min) session. Take the generated map then the software auto corrects it. Write the auto corrected map to the ECU. Do this process 2-3 times wash n rinse now you have a fully tuned bike.
