2020 V4S Bren Tune Review

I have not asked them about availability for the V4 I have zero interest in the new platform its no better then the 99's actually worse. I would send them a email ask when its available.
Specifically, what is "worse"? Reliability? build quality?

Ouch, that doesn't make me feel good about my pending purchase....

I have Harley's too, so I'm used to a certain level of aggravation. Hopefully it's not too bad.

Do a lot more reading here before doubting your purchase.

Every generation Ducati has its issues, V4s included. Currently heat, gear sensors and quick shifters are the problem with V4... same as the 99s and 98s had.
There are some here that are very self serving, and others that think if you aren't building with parts they would use then it is subpar.

Again, read these forums, pay attention to who is posting what and come to your own conclusions.

You'd probably be better off reading FB groups to get a relative idea of the issues.

the heat on the v4 is far better then the 1299, i find the v4 better in every way then my 1299 as far as riding experience .

The quick shifter could be smoother in some situations, the bike kind of falls on its face a bit on some shifts

I have not had issues with either of them as far as reliability

I've the R, and the quickshifter is superb. Although, it has been replaced under warranty (approx 800 miles on the bike).
Also, the gear position sensor was replaced at the same time under warranty, that failed after two days. Delightfully, it failed during the first session of a four day event in Spain. Slightly unimpressed.

It is worth buying one or two spare gear position sensors. They're not much coin, and easy to sell on eBay if you never use them.

The bikes are lovely, but woefully unreliable.

I put my V4 purchase on the back burner because the twin has been so enjoyable to ride and in terms of reliability it has been awesome. 18,000 miles now and not one single problem related to build quality, quickshifter is stock- perfect but then again Im not the guy needing adjustment between 55 or 60 ms, no electronic issues, no rough running, no bolts coming undone through vibration, not a single inch of not going where I wanted to. This bike is as good as any Ive had, also one needs to be aware that people usually post problems on forums so it appears that bikes have many faults when that's not the case in reality.

There's a reason I have a GSX-R also... If the BMW and Ducati are in the shop at the same time, the Suzuki will run! lol

Just kidding, my limited time in the Ducati world has been free of issues. My BMW on the other hand... ugh!

Guy on a 2020 S1000RR had a crank position sensor fail. No more track time for him!

Fireblade may be the go.

Same here in the event the V4 has a problem, my R6 is always on standby. Such a reliable bike, just have to get over that it feels like a moped compared to the V4 :)

And here is graph. Green was with Bren (no AFR sniffer that time), blue back to dealer upmap, red back to bren.

One thing to note is that you can see that the ECU was definitely flashed with a modified file since those pulls go farther out, representing the rev limiter increase from the tune.

Working with Bren now on this to see what is going on.

Thinking about the BT handheld as I have a 2020 SF with a full Akra and dealer upmap. Have you any new/improved Dyno numbers for 4th and 5th gears since your original post?

What a lot of people are forgetting is without a before and after or a comparison with another bike that dyno graph is pretty much useless

for example I’m running the same setup but on a streetfighter i made 175whp same as a stock V4R, same day at Ducati Indy
Food for thought also bren has stage 2 coming out i can’t wait because open flash was the only one with a stage 2 tuning available

I also want too clarify that my buddy bought brens original V4 test bike that made 210whp, it made 192whp down at Ducati Indy FYI

Actually, what you don’t realize is that stage 2 doesn’t mean anything without context. Stages are only what that tuner defines them as… so stage 2 for Bren could mean something entirely different for OFT.

Also staged tunes are generic or “canned” so they’re not ideal anyway. Tuners who actually know they’re .... don’t use the term “stage” fyi.

Nothing new there but stage tuning for the motorcycle world tends to have more weight than a dude rolling with an sti and a stage 3 tune plus a vape pen
