Daniel, if my 19 base v4 ecu is flashed with the Evo 2 software update and then you tune it, what happens to the update?

This was done to my bike... you would read your bikes software, send it to Daniel and then he'd modify it. So it's not lost.

But Daniel would know more and could answer this question better.

The most important part of the Evo2 update is inside the BBS which stays untouched. On the ECU side I implement all my tuning measures in an Evo2 ECU map. It will basically be an improved Evo2 system.

The difference between the ecu and bbs is what?

The difference between the ecu and bbs is what?

The ECU is the Engine Control Unit and is basically the engine management system and handles the engines air, fuel and spark control. The BBS is the Black Box System and is basically the vehicle management system and handles the traction, wheelie and slide control.

The two modules interact over CAN bus. As an example when the BBS wants to reduce the rear wheel slip it would tell the ECU to reduce the torque.

I get why Rick and anyone RACING their bike is faffing with all this electronics to eke 10/10ths. It sounds like a lot of time and effort for marginal gains but I see the worth if it gives you a leg up. But, the problems and unknowns of messing w electronics seem to outweigh the advantages in non-competition.

I'm not convinced. I'm following the thread because I've ridden the '22 and noted the difference to the older versions. Also noting the difference just in Street vs Sport or Race modes. It's a different animal. I'm interested to see what's upgrades bring to both consider newer bikes or hacks / adjustments to older ones. It's not about 10ths necessarily. Just ride quality even.
Whatever ride you're looking for, it's an interesting subject with a computerized bike. Super relevant thread.

I think the biggest hack to older bikes, is if you can adjust the swingarm position.

We're all waiting, with baited breath, for @craig bush to let us know!

The electronics updates, are all fairly marginal, except the quickshifter. I believe the early bikes' QS is a little clunky. But SLR can adjust the cut times, whilst also mapping your bike, all for one price.

Should know within the next few weeks my friends. :)

One correction, in case I misspoke previously - the conversion is using RS parts, not R.

I have no idea what's happening with mine, it has the EVO3 upgrade (or EVO2, whichever one is for the 22my bike), MY23 electronics upgrade and Woolich map.

The quickshifter is surreal.

QS is surreal - as in “good”?

I don't really have any complaints about OEM shifter on my bike, once I got a few miles on it. Still a little clunky on 1 to 2 if you are too heavy with the foot, but that's it.

can he say "mega" yet?
Wont be a proper racer until he repeatedly says it!
