Hi all,

Considering buying a V4r 2023 and putting it in my living room without driving it.
Would that make any sense? I read the v4r is numbered, although not limited.

Let's say in 10 years from now, would the bike keep its value? Or is it not special enough for thus purpose?

You would make more over the course of 10 years buying a GIC, treasury bill or term deposit. All of which are ultra safe investments.

I don’t see keeping a motorcycle in your living room as a wise investment.

I don’t even think you would break even, add in lost income that you could have made if you had invested in something else and inflation I don’t see how this would make any sense financially.

I was going to laugh but you might actually be onto something.

A sub 50 mile halo bike will almost always hold onto its value and might even appreciate (especially with transitions to ev)… the question is if it will appreciate more than inflation.

Likely or not, it’s not an intelligent monetary investment in my opinion.

Basically, If you want your $40k to be more than that in 10 years then don’t buy a Panigale V4R 😂

You’d make more on in-the-box action figures or first gen paradigm shifting tech (like iPhone).

I actually plan on buying a couple Vision Pros and keep one in box for 20 years and see what one will go for. Original iPhone unopened fetch $60k

Just look at the Desmocedici RR. A truly special bike. New, £40k. Now, £60k? Released in 2007. If, money halves in value every ten years, the investment needs to double, at the same rate, to break even.

So, after 16 years, it would need to be £128k? Someone correct my maths!

Even 1299 Superleggera, were they £75k? Now they're £50k+?

However you look at it, bikes are .... investments.

Buy it, ride it, sell it.

Lol. That’s funny. 45k cash could be tripled in those ten years doing something smart in the market.

youve got plenty of money so why not, youll get years of pleasure and if you are self employed or have a business, put it in the office for the first few youll get a tax write off, then you can sell it at book value to yourself for say 1/3 new price and just enjoy it until you decide to sell

"In the sense that as pure monetary investment bikes are dubious. In the sense that "investing in yourself" is the best possible investment, bikes are up there with the right education, a good bed, clean air, finding your tribe, your path, & doing whatever it takes to realize yourself.
Shiny red bikes are vehicles to spirituality, brain cleansing, generally healing on all profound levels, mentors, teachers, partners, muses and friends.
That's a good investment."
...Not left in your living room, OUT PUSHING IT AROUND CORNERS finding your edge!

If you are not capable of riding at a level you dream about, you could actually do what some of these guys are joking about.
Buy a few bikes, start or join a race team.
Or with whatever level you're comfortable with, sponsor a racer or a few. Youngsters, rockstars - whatever is vibing well with you.
Real life meaning comes from helping / participating, I'm sure this is not news, but applied in a way that could really turn something in you could be interesting.
I know 2 racers in Mugello looking for sponsors:
One female is racing with the boys. She would have destroyed the field in the female circuit but she's beyond that. She's looking to arrive to €40k for an annual budget. Nothing of a budget. She's local and well connected, races bikes on loan with Aprilia. Super efficient budget.
An instructor I know is an awesome guy and dominant racer. Does a 1:52 lap at Mugello. Look that up, that's damn fast for anyone not in SBK or MotoGP. He's looking to arrive to €100k annual budget racing CIV National Championship level. Also local, very well organized, very efficient budget. Everyone at the track knows him so these budgets are tiny compared to say, #51 Pirro who's spending millions employed by Ducati.
Any part of that could be an exciting way to get into the scene and live it a little. Put your name on real race bikes out racing. Hang with the teams at in the paddocks now and then.
Doing, adding value, living it, instead of a thing collecting dust is a good investment in you. This usually comes from a marketing budget, depending what you're into could be a right-off as well.

100% agree, in my job I talk about the importance of Vision determining your results in life and business above all else.

On the bike I think the single most important thing for any rider at any level is how to manage their track vision, keep looking down track, don’t target fixate on things that aren’t your goal, broaden your vision to see everything around you, but keep your attention in that broad field of vision on the spots/things that really matter, and do all of it with a calm sense of urgency and speed lol

I don’t know if it will be an investment or not, but look at it and smile…..
She is such a beauty 😍
