2023 V4R info to keep in mind

Had anyone researched the "special" 600 mile oil?

Curious what characteristic are really different versus the standard oil a d what is really driving the shorter intervals.

Has anyone confirmed if the engines followed a similar pattern to the 1199r 1299r, sl where they changed from a 3 ring to 2 ring design? I haven't seen a good breakdown yet so curious 🤔

The last 2020 V4R parts manual shows it as a two ring. One compression and one oil. There isn't a published parts manual for the 2023 V4R. I thought that was always a R thing, going to a two ring setup.

It has been for Ducati to do the 2 ring on R, RS, SL models

Neevesy recognizes that it’s easier to ride but isn’t too impressed by the V4R. For trackday riding, the base V4 is more than adequate.

One little nugget of information revealed is that the R chassis seems to be more flexible than S.

Having owned a 22’ V4S and now owning a 23’ V4R. This review is spot on. Objectively the V4S is a better bike for 95% of the use cases, but I love my V4R for the cool factor and uniqueness of the bike.

Another thing the marketers at Ducati are talking about to the press is the new pistons which have DLC-coated side skirts, BUT, they did this on the 1299 Superleggera AND Kawasaki has been doing it since 2017 on the ZX-10RR. I am sure other manufacturers have also done this as well.

Not really info to keep in mind but MOST of the reviews I am seeing on YouTube are basically useless, here is a video of someone riding a lap at the RedBull Ring.

I asked him about what he noticed and he replied...

The Engine is a little bit more powerful with the new exhaust. The biggest thing is the new electronic (DTC, DWC, EBC). Smooth and perfect! The old electronic was hard and the cutting too strong. The new one is 100% better and I am faster with it.

The guy I spoke with said the R is really designed for track performance but you've got to be an advanced rider to really take advantage of the changes otherwise the S had much more usable power. This is second hand info as I don't have first hand experience so take it with a grain of salt.

I don't know why everyone defaults to saying the S. That is Ducati marketing at work, if you are riding at the track and don't want the R get the base and go from there. There is no benefit to get the S.

Also there is a lot of banter from people who didnt get the R about why you shouldn't get it, it is totally valid. There is a whole new V4 about to be announced for 24, then in 25 there will be a whole new R. If you are on the fence on the R and are patient def don't get it.

I am patient I will wait the 4th v4r in 2028

Word is that there will be only electronics upgrades for 2024, all of which will be applicable to the current gen.

Completely agree if you are looking for track or race bike, and the R isn’t for you. The base is by far the best investment.

I heard there is going to be a new superleggara based on the 23’ V4R. A Ducati rider club president said they got the info while in Italy at some meeting

That maybe true, but I would not expect to see a “new V4” being released. Just a variation of the current gen with tweaks that are backwards compatible

RoadRacerX would never say so himself, but he might be the fastest guy here, I’d say it’s between him, Rick, and Bruce…RoadRacerX has some pretty impressive track records that he acquired on the same weekends with the likes of Tony Elias on the track.

I’m faster in the canyons. I’ve brought my pink slip with me

That's fantastic, I'm slow but really enjoy it!
