2025 Ducati V2

I'm starting to think Ducati is being ridiculous, the new V4 was a nice model that could stand out with its features but I think it's not the same for this model. The new stf v2, on the other hand, I think it's uglier than the old model, thank goodness they're tearing apart my love for Ducati...

The Supersport was/is a Monster with fairings. This seems more like a match for the R9 type of bike, which is likely above a Supersport but below a 959/V2. The R9 has the same style bars. If anything, there is now a greater gap between the V2 and V4.

I bet the new v2 will as fast on track as the 959 despite less power, it's all about how its delivered and the package it comes in. I also think it delineates the models- V4 for serious power and speed, then quite a gap for the V2 softer option. I also like the weight reduction, when the aftermarket fires up there will be bikes in the 140-150kg range and then the handling will be off the charts.

The weight reduction is 17 kilos. Massive. So, you are correct, in that they are pitching the new version to be as fast around the track as the old.

Yeah cos the factory quoted numbers for most parts are always correct….🤫

That's the thing though,
A little less than 400lb with stock pipes and fairings.. I started out at 415 with the zx4rr and am in the lower 350s now but with half the power.
The new v2 can propably track ready at 375 without heavy lifting and that will be a great package. 👍

The stock bike is already track ready… ....... poseurs

It's going to be terrific.

17kg lighter is compared to the new V2S which has a lithium battery and lighter slipon. That probably erases 4kg difference if you exclude those, so 13kg or 28lbs seems more believable off my 2022 V2 racebike's 374lbs without fuel. It has 7% less displacement so a similar reduction in power seems appropriate after the emissions stuff is removed. That means my 142whp V2 racebike will probably be a 132hp 2025 V2 in mild supersport trim. My bike carries 4.04 lbs per hp with my 180lbs and 20lbs gear and the new one will carry 4.1 but will brake and turn marginally quicker. That seems nearly equal.

They will absolutely race the new bike. All supersports are reduced in power at the pro level to equalize their performance, so absolute differences are only relevant to club racers and street riders.

Well financially speaking will teams scrap a platform that has proven to win and start over with this next season? I know defiantly not all will

Yes, a much bigger gap, but I thought that was actually the whole point, because an updated V2 with 160hp would be taking away too many sales away from the V4s. Make a smaller, less attractive version, that has no overlap with the V4s, was in bold letters at the top of the design sheet. I’m sure it will be great fun on the twisties and smaller tracks, but the failure is that riding is only half the pleasure of having a Ducati, the other half is having a bike so beautiful it is special.

Mission statement: create complete separation between the V2s and V4s.
Mission status: Successful.

My 2c.

Edit, I do find it better looking with the Termis. So probably full termis with someone else’s tune.

I love real analysis, as opposed to opinion. Thanks for posting.

I didn't see that the new bike's lighter weight includes a Li battery and slipon. Where did you see that? Not disagreeing, just wondering.

Yours is really 347lbs? I haven't weighed mine, but the "back out math" I did -- starting with the claimed wet weight, then subtracting the parts I took off, or increasing for things I put on -- only came out to ~368 lbs. But I didn't actually weigh everything and made a lot of assumptions.

441 wet weight.

This is obviously a show bike. I wonder what will be different in production. Of course the tires. Likely the rear sets?

This is the V2S with additional parts available for this bike from Ducati. There was stock oem V2 right next to it that I didnt take pics of but is shown on the website

Exactly. The weight difference they quoted was based on the V2S which includes a lithium battery and akrapovic exhaust (although I don't know if the latter saves anything since it has to still include the cat to be sold on for the road).
