Hi all, is there enough clearance with the OEM carbon tire hugger to use the new 125/70 Pirelli SC? I'll be using the new 125/70 SC front (w/ the new 200/65 rear) in a couple of weeks, but I always had a hell of a time getting tire warmers to clear the space between the old 120/70 slick and the tire hugger. I'm assuming I'm going to need to get an aftermarket front hugger to comply with the new larger front tire, but wanted to see if anyone has had experience with this and can share their solution to what I anticipate is going to be an issue.

Thanks!

I have the same problem. I really like the carbon fibre front fender but cant use warmers on 125 tyre...

Hey, are you saying you've actually tried? Just confirming I shouldn't hold my breath that the stock hugger will work. haha

I tried to put warmers on 125 tyre with carbon fiber fender and I couldnt :( . Its just the front side of the fender where the warmers stucks.

Found this post and thought I would comment as I just went through the same. 125/70 will not work with warmer on my 1199. I have 4 different kinds of front wheel fenders too and all fit the same. It was manageable when the slick was new but once it started getting chewed up and the rubber on the tire expanded, I had to fight it so hard that either I was going to break the fender or rip the warmer. I ended up breaking my custom fender I had made at Monster Fairings withthe rest of my skins and cracking it at the screw holes. I am also running the 200/65 in rear no problem but looks like I will go back down to a 120/70 SC2 come this weekend at NJMP. I may try redrilling the holes in the fender that cracked since I tried repairing with clear silicone and will see if it holds. Pic attached with Full Six Carbon fender on the bike with the 125/70. You can see there is no room.

Have you tried a 1299 front fender? I just put the front hugger I had from my track fairings (CRC Fairings) on the bike and all was fixed.

So 1299 front fender from CRC on your 1199 cleared 125/70 with warmer? I only want the front fender though and not all the fairings. Wondering if I try another fender version made for 1299 to provide same result as the CRC?

I mixed my messaging there a bit. I solved my problem, but if you want to keep the carbon front hugger, try the 1299’s. I have a friend who runs the oem carbon on his 1299 and he doesn’t have an issue with warmers.

Can't see how that would matter. 1199 and 1299 is same bike/frame only with better top end on motor (cams/heads).

I’ve had both bikes. The front hugger has more clearance between the tire on the 1299. Looks like there have been several part number updates since the 1199. Makes sense that they improved clearance for the 1299. Here’s the latest 564Z0061A

I appreciate that info. However don't feel like spending another $500+ for that carbon fender. What about if I go Full Six Carbon or another option? Problem is these other's haven't been vetted out for the same clearance needed

So guess what? This carbon fender part # you mentioned is same one I had on my 1199. I had removed and put the Monster Fairing one on because I didn't want to wear and tear the DP one which is quite expensive. Only my part # was the old which predates the one you provided. It's 56420982A. It fits all the older Panigale's.

Additonally you are correct as well. I can work my warmer on/off the 125/70 tire with this fender installed. It's snug but nowhere near the problem I had before so shouldn't have any risk damaging the fender or the warmer with use. So thank you for the pointer.

I still have the original red OEM one that came with my 1199. Wonder how that one fits to use with the warmer and larger 125/70 tire ?

FYI, I mounted the 125/70 on my base 1299... OEM red fender, and my warmer wouldn't fit. It also burned through my front wheel speed sensor cable. The warmer fit is tight on the 120/70 but it works. If you run warmers with the stock fender, I highly recommend that you route your sensor cable on the outside of the fender regardless of tire size... inside the lower fork leg and cable tied to the upper caliper bracket and brake line. The warmer can catch on and snap off the hooks on the inside of the fender that hold the cable in place. Cutting/pulling off the hooks on the inside of the fender helps with warmer clearance.

Is there any problem with TC on a 1199 running a 200/60 or 200/65 profile? And also, what about sag/geometry on forks and rear shock?
