Yes, saw that mentioned. So there will be numbered editions for the R, SP2, and the Anniversario available to buy. And the Bautista and Pecco replicas have just landed...

How many buyers are there out there for these expensive variants and how do they choose the right one for their needs?

Call me old fashioned, but numbered editions should be rare, commemorative / celebratory and limited.

I'm sure Audi know what they are doing.
I still don’t really understand why they number bikes that are not limited in numbers…
and the best of the lot atm is a base bike......then add some proper forks shock and wheels, proper track tool then for much less money..
If I had known I would only ride mine on track I would probably have gone that way.

Looking less likely that we’ll get a new V4 engine considering that Yamaha is rumored to be pulling the plug on the R1 due to Euro5+ regs. Superbikes are going the way of the dodo.

Based on GP(?). The current one is based on GP (14) right (at least the motor). So this one should be based on GP (20 or 21). So probably another 25 HP. At least the waterpump will get fixed.

Yamaha has been moving towards parallel twins and triples for a while now, I don’t think they have much financial upside in developing a new I-4.

Ducati on the other hand have been pushing all of their top range bikes towards the V4 platform.

I think there is enough life left in the V4 architecture to make it financially feasible to develop a top-range v4 that complies with Euro 25+ / 26 as they can amortize the R&D cost across several years and platforms.

I've so far missed the boat on the 23+ V4R, have stuck with my 2019 V4R, safe to say after reading this I should keep waiting for the bigger refresh next year?

I would wait if I was in the same situation.

I don’t know if the first model year of any Ducati really makes sense. Especially if it’s a new platform.

I suspect at a minimum there will be significant aero upgrades, to homologate for WSBK. I doubt there will be much of a power gain. But that’s not really needed. Hopefully that new trick seamless transmission will be on offer. Not that I think it will make me faster, but it is a cool bit of kit if real.

And maintenance nightmare… Seamless gearbox is never going to happen for a road going motorcycle.

I’d like to see them improve durability, packaging, and serviceability. I wouldn’t be surprised if they slow down on revisions to maximize margins and recoup development costs. And if the V4R revision intervals follow the 4 year cycle, we won’t see anything until 2027

I might be inclined to just get it if I wanted it as a new model is probably some time away. Then again, you've got a 2019 V4R... need versus want... 🤣

I was looking at my bike just yesterday and thinking "what that thing needs is more wings, particularly on the rear, and maybe bigger as well"... 🤪 They should definitely fit wings on the back - they'll do great business on replacement parts as people snap them off with their boots every time they try to get on the bike.

I put a deposit on it at Ducati Newport Beach, so I should get one of the 1st ones that land in the US.
