SoCal in March? I'll be there Sunday/Monday, then racing CVMA the following weekend, get to play with launch control 😬

I wanted to see it before he upgrades it...

At the last minute I switched to a 2023 KTM RC 8C

A unicorn of a deal popped up on one at a local KTM Dealer that I got for $4800 out the door less than the Kramer…for essentially the same bike. Only negative is that I don’t love Orange 😂😂😂

Also I’m not upgrading anything on the bike except for maybe…..

Oh FFS! Well, you can always strip it down and paint the frame a different colour…

Members day for the SoCal organization, like the noon hour during their track days for members.

Which SoCal organization, are you talking about SoCal track days?
I'm disappointed... I thought the Kramer was an awesome idea.

it’s literally the exact same bike with different fairings and exhaust, but with arguably a higher resale value later, an RC 8C IS A KRAMER GP2 890 RR badged as a KTM.

The reason I switched at the last minute is that a local KTM dirt bike dealer, who doesn’t sell sport bikes and understand the market for these bikes, had bought one as a showroom decoration, then decided they didn’t want that much money tied up in a decoration. Put it up for sale then kept reducing the price about every week. Until I got it for $4800 less out the door than you can get any GP2 890 RR or RC 8C anywhere in the world. Usually you can’t buy these bikes even if you want to, there are guys selling them for $50k or trying to. And I got one 45 minutes from my house, for almost $5k below what you normally have to pay. Unicorn scenario too good to pass up. When really the only difference in the bikes is color. I just couldn’t justifying paying $5k more for a preferred color lol

Not sure of the full politics of it but the garage owners and other people are "members" of Chuckwalla, kinda like a golf course membership, where they have dedicated track time just amongst themselves. One of the benefits of the RideHVMC gig I do out there is access to some of those days. Mondays are a ghost town, probably 5-10 bikes on track on the same time max. I think JP43 might run on Mondays as well.

It’s not exactly the same, literally or otherwise - slightly different in the engine and the electronics are different. Near as damnit though and nothing that would really make any significant difference. I’m slightly jealous of the KTM but would have been more jealous of the Kramer. 🤣 Perhaps better resale on the KTM though. 🤷‍♂️

The price reduction you got was similar to the discount I got on my V4R and the reason I couldn’t resist getting it. I was toying with the idea of getting the KTM or Kramer before I got offered the V4R at the reduced price. I’d still love to experience one of them at some point, or maybe Kramer will go for a bigger KTM engine and up the game a bit.

It’s going to be interesting to hear about your first rides on the KTM.

The engines are exactly the same, the ECU and engine mapping is different though. The Kramer has a lower rev limit but slightly higher HP, about 3 HP more. The guy i know that has a previous iteration RC 8C pushed me to get the 2023 KTM over the Kramer with the higher revs of the KTM being the deciding factor. The Kramer and the previous KTM model don’t have an over rev function, so it’s a hard rpm cutoff like the previous KTM he has, which he described as the only negative of the bike, no over rev he said was intrusive on the riding experience because on downshifting or otherwise hitting the rev limit the bike does a hard power cut. The 2023 KTM that i got doesn’t have that issue.

Also to answer question above, i put a deposit on the 2025 V4R already, to be near the front of the line on US deliveries.

The GP2-890 RR’s electronics are significantly better than the RC 8C. The RC and 890R are basically the same bike. I’d rather have a Kramer. If you’re going to throw $35k at a track bike, what’s another $5k to get the cream of the crop.

Anyone know how much a GYTR prepped R7 would cost?
