2nd Bike Choice?

didn't you just trade your Hyper to get the 1199?

Yes for multiple reasons.

1. I got cleared by the docs to ride a sportbike again.
2. I couldn't have 2 bike loans. If I could have and could have afforded it I would have kept the Hyperstrada also.

I also didn't think about the heat with the little guy. I don't really notice it but he is 8..

the tuono worked great for me. 300 miles 2 up were a walk in the park compared to the 1199.

although the missus never complained about the heat on the 1199.

if i was you, i'd look for something a little different, rather a tourer, not a naked sportbike.

Thx Phil.. I notice half of the responses go Touring bike ish area. I guess I need to make it Tuono or Multistrada discussion.

Ok Phil, Lefty and other's Im really feeling the 15' Multi S in white... As soon as Pani is paid for I think I'm getting this..

For a two up second bike you are not moving very far from a sport bike. Do yourself a favor and broaden your horizons to something more of a sport tourer or one of the new adventure bikes that are very close to a true sport tourer.

100% agreed. My brother "had" a Tuono for two years & I had a lot of seat time on it. Great bike, but I bought my Duke, as it was much better for two up.

The Tunono is not a great two up bike, it's ok.

It's better than the 1199, but no way as good as a Multi. I would have your wife sit on both, if you are going to be doing a lot of two up.

The new Multi is very nice. MotoForza did the Ducati Days test drives over the weekend. The new Multi got great reviews from everyone.

I'm looking at it too.. So it's really down to 2 bikes. 1290SD and most likely the new Multi S in white..

I own a Multi and have owned an RSV4 Factory that was stolen. If you were solo, I would say to go with the Tuono because the V4 engine with the chasis is just a strong package. I am very tempted to add one to the colection this summer.

For two up riding the Multi is hard to beat since it is very comfortable and still extremely sporting.

I think I need to take little man on a Multi test ride and see what he thinks. He's with me more than the wife is so I guess I should get his input haha

My second bike is a hyper SP since its just me, i did test ride the new mulit this past weekend, and I have to admit, I almost traded the hyper for it.... It's a solid bike... I ride a pikes peak mutli on a trip last year and loved it, the new multi is better

Yeah gonna have to test ride both with him..

I was going to suggest the SD1290 as well. To be a naked bike, it has little wind blast and is really refined and offers alot of comfort.

Cons: There appears to be a porous engine casings, some have rear hub movement greater than the 0.3mm that KTM says is ok. 9300 mile valve check vs. the longer service interval of the multistrada.

My point for the 2nd bike was to stick with sportbikes. Naked sportbike really. I thought about other bikes and the only other bikes that came to mind are the Multistrada and Goldwing lol. If I went outside of the Hyper SP or Tuono it would be one of those too.

I had two Goldwings as a second or third bike for two up riding. I never really had fun on that bike and my wife rides less and less with me. So I bought a BMW 1600GT and bought full equipment for two up touring, but most of the time it gets ridden without bags and a short windshield. It is a lot of fun and a great bike for my annual week long trip. It has been to the Smokies and Rockies already. Granted its not cheap though.

Based upon all of your posts I think the Multistrada is probably a great choice for you. I have put 170 miles on one and its a great bike.

someone please enlighten me, I thought the whole point of riding is to get away from the wife and kids?
