My bike has been in the shop for warranty work but while there they told me they had to order a part related to the fuel line under the tank that has sheared.

This small white plastic part looked to my untrained eye like a connector between either two fuel hoses or a fuel hose and the tank. It had sheared around its circumference and was considered a fire risk.

They have replaced under warranty. I thought I'd mention it as I've never heard of it before and it's been a long wait to replace it. Those of you who are more adept at mechanical maintenance will probably be able to find this piece and check it out.

I will ask them for the part number when I pick the bike up.

My dealer/tech whom is 20+ years Ducati authorized said in addition to the oil filter sealing issues- Do Not overfill the oil !!!! Wait for the oil to drain from the heads, take the fairing off because otherwise you cannot see the engine oil viewing glass AT ALL, then put the bike on a rear stand so the oil level is correct to read. Otherwise oil may be added when unnecessary that will find a way out that has caused a fire. Ducati SpA has issued a bulletin regarding the overfilling. It's not a filter seal problem, just an inexperienced tech overfilling the engine case. Ask your dealer for a copy of the bulletin.

I just checked with Steve Moore to ask how much oil they put in . He said that for those tracking, oil needs to be changed every 1K km and 3.4 liters has to go in. that is just over the "min" line on the looking glass. i had a buddy that filled it to max and the oil got spat out in the airbox...

185 bhp from a 1200 twin is nice but the tech is sensitive.. :)

I bought a stock exhaust for modification reason, and I noticed that it had heavy oil burn on the top left can heat shield. When I disassembled the fiber glass heat wrap cloth was soaked with thick tar, it had the old car smell of sludge.. It could be one reason,

Also the termi's look like they could run cooler we have. Seeing one tore a part they flow better, and don't over heat, no cat to burn fuel, but I do know termi'ss need to be repacked often just looking at the design..

15$ of glass packing is what is needed..

My opinion,, Good luck

Just checked my bike and I see oil built up as well underneath. Also, the inner sides of my pipes have dark streaks/stains all over it too (will take pic later). How do I clean that crap off?

I checked around the oil filter cover but there are no leaks. Not sure where my leak is coming from. Guess its time to remove all fairings and play with a flashlight. :(

turns out both my front and rear heads are leaking at the gasket. Rear was fixed but the dealer ignored the front.

I cleaned the bike up over the past few days and now notice that the damn oil pan is leaking.

I'll be taking my bike into the dealer for service soon so I'm going to have them sort this .... out. Tempted to go to another dealer anywhere in socal who can properly torque bolts.

as for the dark streaks, I had to use a heavy metal polish and a scotch brite pad to get it out. Now its clean as new but damn oil leaks are coming back.

Oh, and to top things off, my brand spaking new monster 1200 S now has a 'check engine light' error. :(

Thank goodness for warranties!
