not to my surprise the 899 came in last and the gsxr first. can ducati ever get a good review?

flame on

They should call it Gixxer Magazine, I can't recall any bike ever winning a comparison in that one other than a Gixxer, particularly the 750.

im not missing a link i read the article on the bus. there are countless articles where the gsxr wins every time. google it.

thats funny cause i can never find an article where ducati wins. i googled it and guess what EVERY MAG has gsxr 750 beating the 899. the 899 was the slowest of the 3 around the track riders said and i quote i expected more.

so much for the 899 being the best super middleweight ever lol

it does have the looks so i guess its a panigale after all only wins in looks department

So hostile Mark, was trying to be helpful. Bring the Killer down a few notches, you have your health and a few bad ... bikes, cheer the .... up. See you at the track ;)

You win Markalepsey. You are the world's most unhappy Ducati owner.

You hear me? YOU WIN!!!

Some others around here have tried to to compete with you but no one has been able to keep it up as much as you.

I crown you CHAMPION OF THE UNHAPPY!

Keep up the good work. As long as your unhappiness has no equal, long shall you reign.

Peace out CHAMP!

I passed a Gixxer 750 on my 899 multiple times at my last track day so that's all I care about. :p

anyone talking to you. did i say i was unhappy? do i own an 899? i was stating simple facts that ducati never wins any of these comparisons. keep it up duche

have not read the article, but the 750 is a hell of a bike for the money. non the less, if the tester is an I-4 guy, he won't be fast on a twin. same the other way round. also, some tracks suit some bikes better than others. tires, did anyone mention different tires? ;)

also, how do you guys think magazines operate? profit by what you pay at the kiosk? LOL - all about ads. ching ching. you know where i'm going.

guess why in the german magazines BMW is always on top? their ads are on the first and last page and in between :D

now post up that link so i can read it.

And another:

2014 Super-Middleweight Sportbike Shootout - Motorcycle.com

Full marks to the ole Gixxer though. Those things are ubiquitous for a reason. Had one myself a few years back, and they are very, very well sorted sportbikes. If someone handed me the keys to a new one for free on the sole condition I could never have another sportbike, I'd give it serious thought. They just work.

That said, it'll be interesting to see how they respond now that their "supermid" space is getting some attention from other manufacturers. With their re-entry into MotoGP with a crossplane I4, an all-new 750 could be pretty tasty.

Not any more. The latest is that the crossplane motor is gone replaced by a traditional screamer 4-banger. The interview I read with the project manager was pretty clear that their marketing connection to what is on the the showroom floors is vitally important. Since no crossplane in the current product, back to the traditional I4. De Puniet and Aoiki tested both motors back to back and there was no difference in lap times, IIRC.

Interesting! All the videos of the bikes from the latest Sepang test show the testers on an I4 crossplane bike; it sounds virtually the same as the Yamahas. I knew they were abandoning the V for marketing reasons, but hadn't seen anything about them going back to a screamer firing order.

Nah, don't believe any of it. I'm sure Mark419ny was right about the 899.

He's always right....... just ask him :D
