I bought the bike from Wheels in Motion in Chatsworth, Ca. They offer their bike purchasing customers up to 20% on accessories and apparel (not sure about parts) . Depending on the manufacturer. These people are great to
their customers!

Ha, very nice. I am i the market right now. Down in OC. I have driven around the last few days, went to Wheels in Motion, Pro Italia, and my local Newport location. The bike price is pretty competitive, but the exhaust price is where they seem to keep the same astronomical price rather firm.

I always wondered what is the TRUE cost of the particular exhaust (wholesale)... Hmmm

Took me five hours and three beers. It really isn’t that difficult. Taking the subframe off helps. It comes with decent instructions. If you have the tools, do it yourself.

I’m pretty well off but I’m not pay someone $110 an hour to do something that I can well off.
What about the change in mapping?

This is it! Akra full system is going in to the V2. Going out today to get the last 125mi in for the first service, then the dealer can fit the new system. Its like 8hrs of service to install and they are booked the rest of the week. Looks like im going riding since the sun is finally out today.

Is no one going to ask about that pillow? What’s the top word?

I’ve noticed that a lot of forum members are waiting for the first service before installing the Akra full system and map. Is there a technical reason or is because dealers don’t have them in stock so people are ordering and than doing at their first service?

I ordered the full exhaust when I ordered the bike. I’m curious if I should wait to break the bike in before installing? Any feedback would be appreciated.

The bike is running a "break-in" map from the factory. Thats why the tach flickers orange when above 6k. Dealer said I was able to get an exhaust after the 621. It goes by quick enough so I waited.

Really?
Does the orange stop after first service?
Yes. At 622mi i dropped off for service and there was still the soft "orange line". After the service+exh+map Ducati Racing Evo pops up on the dash at key-on and no flashing orange. Also, if you do the install, when removing the evap canister leave the harness plugged in to the bike or CEL.

I sometimes wish I had kept the stock exhaust...Akra is so loud. I bet just an air filter and a tune would bo these bikes proper for the street

I’m trying to justify an exhaust that’s 1/4 of the value of the bike.

IMO, if I was going with the list of "justifying" items, I would not have bought anything, ever. Is it worth it? Depends. if you are even thinking about it, probably yes.

The bike's price alone is questionable, but so is everything else in this world these days. The times we live in. We don't really need it, but we have it.

The way I see it is the "buy it once, buy it right" perspective. It is not like you have to change it, probably ever. It is not a typical wear and tear item that will go bad (of course extreme situations are possible, have not heard of one yet for this particular part in question). You get it, instal it and enjoy it.

Idk if you already use them, but try some earplugs. It is just enough of sound deadening (to eliminate the ear ringing), but you can still hear it pop and growl.

You can't, and maybe never will...motorcycles are an emotional purchase. Im out in L.A. sometimes I go to Dodgers games(I'm not into sports really) just saying, I will sit in the yellow section(field level, behind the dugout) because for me those are the best seats(runner-up is the Pavillion). I go to enjoy the game and the experience. I mean, I'm gonna have some peanuts, a couple of dogs, 2-3 beers, maybe a new hat...easy $200-$300 day. I do my best to just enjoy my good time. Then I figure out what I need to sell off later.
That being said, you could buy a whole bunch of other stuff for your bike instead...and not all at once either.
Sometimes you gotta close your eyes and hit send, other times its best to waste sleep scouring the web for options.

Thought crossed my mind as soon as I posted it. Still, would be a record by a long way for what I’ve ever paid for an exhaust.

I hope I like since I’m getting it sight unseen (or heard). I was able to get the dealer to sell me all the bits and pieces, including the Akra, I wanted for my V2 at a 20% discount, so felt now was the chance to do it vs waiting a few month and then paying a bunch more. They’re also giving me a deal on the install which helps some. Time will tell if it’s the right decision for me. I’m supposed to pick up the bike next week. Can’t wait, but also a little anxious since I’m laying out some serious coin on this whole setup.

Make sure you get ALL of your factory parts back and that do not throw ANYTHING away. That way you can go back. Dealer i had do the install chucked my heat shields and the evap and some other bits.
