Nice, because this was an award outside the MC industry and for industrial design.
Form following function at it's best!

I went for a ride with a mate last week and he has Acro's and I have Termi's - have to say his bike sounded sooo much better and had a lovely crackle to it, I was a little jealous but not enough to toss mine and change - lovely pipes

Akra sound is worth drooling over as it is and with that on an SL.. double droolage :D

Patiently waiting on mine..

I've not encountered anyone else around with the akra, everyone has the term's. Even random passers-by can tell the different in sound between my bike and the other 1199s, it's quite nice :)

I really do like the Akra, even though I can't afford one. But I am mystified on why they won this award. The basic design of the exhaust that Akrapovic had to follow is by Ducati, who engineered the 1199. So "groundbreaking design" is a bit specious IMHO.

Yes, it is superior in materials, craftsmanship and design (due to its higher performance) than the OEM or Termignoni offerings. I would like to understand the award criteria better and see what the competition was like. It seems hard to believe that 4,800 other products didn't represent more of a design advance in their respective categories. Seriously, besides the badges and carbon end pieces, I think most non-motorcyclists would have a difficult time noticing the differences between Akra, OEM and Termi pipes/cans.

Any akra owners in the upstate of SC yet?

Would like to meet up for a back to back road comparo...

:D

Maybe sunshinestate can make the Panigale's at the Dragon meet in May. I really want to hear the difference between them and your OEM can-mod, as yours is far deeper-sounding than the Termi's.

I'm still saving some extra funds to send you my OEM cans sitting on the shelf in my garage. Did you ever find a local powder-coater or find out what it costs to get the cans jet-hot coated? I'm lazy and want to send it to you and get it back ready to bolt-on, all blacked out.

okay jeffd i concur with your statement to a certain point. however I'm going to start by saying i probably couldn't perform enough for the difference to make me fast but nonetheless they won this reward because if you wanted a "termi" that is as light with titanium headers like the akra you would spend 8-12k dollars, so basically its a better value then termi. i love my termignoni but would of loved them to be titanium. also i would love to hear this akra in person since some swear by this monstrous sound… if my termignoni didn't come free with the R i probably would of went the akra route ...

Quack,

You can always sell your termis n buy akras like nitrouz and ronin did :)

On a serious note, since Ducati seems to be "in the works" with making some sort of upmap type of thing for akras (rumor has it) once Ducati officially announces some sort of performance gains with such a thing and probably officially retaining a factory warranty, this pipe will sell even quicker. I'm sure there are some who are on the fence about it since the whole warranty being void is a gray area in general.

thats kinda what i did to justify purchase of my magnesiums but how much can i get for my full termignoni with under 2000 miles"¦ how much are they worth and i like a loud growl does the akra sound better?
