I remember that thread. I seem to recall that he started by saying he did around 1:50 and within a few pages he was saying he did mid 1:40s. Phenomenal progress over a few pages. 👏 I expect he’s getting close to the lap record by now.

1:50 to 1:45 is nothing special, but still slow

random guys on youtube first time there do 1:42 easily
 
You do realize tires wear and conditions vary? Dipped to 15 sec off MA times on one day and the next was 18. Seems pretty consistent to me for a B+ rider. Anything under a 50 and predictable lines can bump up to A’s. But yeah, talk to me when you get out of diapers

Also I’ve never said I was fast. More slightly above average. Used to be more above average but I’d say the V4 has hampered my riding more than helped despite the electronics and power.

Saying these are more rear biased bikes is an astute observation. I think this is why I’ve been finding it difficult entering into a corner. I wouldn’t say it has good front end feel and is sluggish to the apex.

But different strokes for different folks

Dado que la bomba trasera es doble, no pierdo el freno de pie trasero, pero no sé dónde está conectado, el que viene directamente de la pulgar y el que viene del ABS. Gracias.

No estaba usando ABS, por lo que el mío está enrutado de manera diferente, el maestro del pulgar al maestro trasero, el maestro trasero a la pinza.

I have to make the brake fluid cable anyway, because the connections on the rear pump and thumb brake are M8, and the OEM ones are M10.

So the connection position on the rear brake pump doesn't matter?
Other than the OEM ABS line won't reach the top, sure.

Track groups in USA are so watered down, it's not even funny.
I have experience in Laguna Seca and Buttonwillow. A group should be at least 1:42 for Laguna, 2:03 for Buttonwillow (for American riders lol). If those tracks were in Europe, it would be 1:39 for Laguna, 1:59 for Buttonwillow.
Unfortunately, most organizations don't have transponders and they accept the rider's choice of group.
This year at Laguna after the blind uphill crest T1, I had a R7 waiting for me 70mph slower in the middle of the race line. It scared the .... out of me. I came up on the same rider again, again and again. When I complained to the organization, they said they'll look into it. If you have someone riding 15-20 seconds slower than the pace on your track sessions, how are you not aware of it as an organization? Where are your control riders???
I did 2 days at Autodromo Most in Czech Republic this Summer. They started me with the C group since I had no experience in that track before. I had to get to the actual B group lap times consistently to be promoted at lunch time. The next day, I got promoted to A group, again no conversation needed, just by riding the needed lap times. I was at the bottom of the A group barely over the cut off time. Top rider was Markus Reiterberger, EWC and IDM Bmw racer, then bunch of IDM racers. I felt very safe with their group protocol, and never felt unsafe or slowed down by any riders. I wish I could say the same here in US track days.

Who was the organiser? Most is a fun circuit.

No transponders and choose your own group? That’s crazy. Pick your own group sticker… ideal for a certain type of person and dangerous for everyone else. 🫣
