I was referring to the fact that if you already had a Termi exhaust, is it worth buying again.
Looks and quality wise it definetly is.

Oops, sorry my mind reading is not so good today. Perhaps next time a bit more typing to make clear what you are saying for those of us without Vulcan mind reading power.

On another note, I bought my bike in May 2012. Since then have watched the debate rage on the forum. I am a veteran of the AR saga on the forum and like many survived. I know I know "don't mention the war" or AR. (Apologies to Fawlty Tower fans). I still have the std exhaust. I do not race so do not need more power.

I like the look of the Akra and the fact that it is light. Maybe it sounds better but hard to tell as you would need to stand next to one of each to compare and be able to make a judgement. The standard pipe sounds pretty good.

Now that a lot more info is coming out about the akra, I am glad I have waited because if I do change my pipes I will have more choice and be better informed. I think it is significant that Ducati fitted an akra to the SL instead of a new full ti termi.

If I am really honest though a akra system for me would just be bling, unless it improved midrange punch significantly.;)

It's all good Brad
I am not too good at writing stories.
In your position the Akra is the way to go if you want bling and power.
It's about a wash cost wise, compared to the full Termi.
I have an R, and it came with the full system, I track mine a lot, love the looks of the Akra, and I would need to have a performance gain to sway my decision.
Looks like there is more midrange power and torque, might be worth it?

I can only comment in terms of sound since I've heard lardawge's pani which has the akra on it. Mine has the standard pipes and although it sounds decent, next to the akra it sounds nothing like it. Akra has a deeper bass (rumble) and only gets more mean with more grunt as the rpms increase whereas the standard pipes kinda get tinny sounding higher in the rpms. The lighter weight n increase power and torque are obvious but the sound is definitely louder than the termi full as well. Even if someone has a full termi, they could easily sell it n add to it some n get the akra. I for sure will be getting the akra down the road.

Bass? What bass?

If someone in the Carolinas or GA gets his bike equipped with the akras, I'd like to come by and do a 1:1 comparison ;)

As good as the full systems are, coring out the stock cans to achieve improved performance and a much improved sound for under $500 seems like a very good value considering the significant price differential.

The Akra doesn't any removable baffles, right? And at idle and just putting around (i.e. going up driveway, putting through neighborhood) is it noticeably louder than stock? Or only when you start getting on it?

Maybe slightly louder than stock but you can definitely tell the difference in tone. It has a more noticeable rumble than stock even at low rpms. It's not obnoxiously loud. I'm not sure about the removable baffles. I don't think it has any. I could be wrong about that though. I just know its sound makes me want it on my bike. Honestly don't even care as much about the performance aspect of it. The bike is plenty fast as is and the pipes + tune may fix that dip in torque but ultimately the sound is my only reason for wanting it. Yea, expensive ass sound I'm after lol. At least it looks cool too.

Has anyone put it on without tuning it? I just wonder if you couldn't wait to mount it, would it run ok/better until properly tuned.

just checked my akras...it does have removable baffles just like the termi's.

I'm sure it would be similar to how cars are. I'm sure it would run just fine but probably very ...... due to the afr being all over the place, therefore not really ideal to be getting on the throttle with an untuned full system. I wouldn't do it personally. I did install a couple of parts on my evo couple years ago before I got my major parts ordered n taken to a shop for a pro tune but I made sure to stay out of boost at all times.

It does have removable baffles. I have not ran it with them in so I don't know how much it tames the noise. They are loud but not in an obnoxious way. Cars can def hear me coming.

The bike I tuned had the exhaust fitted with the standard ECU.
He said it was hard to start and ran very poorly.
I was not prepared to do a base run on the bike because it was very lean.
I am sure it would have been OK in the upper RPM range, I just felt it was time to abort the run when the A/F hit 16/1 in the midrange.

So it sounds like I need to get the Akra tune for my Tuneboy, and install it asap after installing the pipe.

I did the last tests on the bike yesterday.
The bike is getting picked up in half an hour.
I will send the map to any of our customers who request it.

The map I have done for this bike will be an Akrapovic specific map. I did this because of the vast different in fuel requirement when compared to the Termi or standard mapping.

The map has the Cruise Control and the strain gauge quick shifter, the strain gauge shifter option allows clutchless down shifts (ECU blips the throttle on down shifts to unload the gearbox).

The map changes the thermo fan settings, the fan comes on at 103 degrees on the first heat cycle then comes on at 91 after that. This keeps the engine temp down to aid in rider comfort.

Like all the TuneBoy maps you can play around with the fuel trims to get the best from your bike, I would suggest a test ride with +5% then another with -5%, then use the one that feels the best while riding.

You can see from the A/F graphs I posted that the bike is tuned over the entire throttle range.
Has anyone posted equivalent info on the A/F and performance with the RexXer flash.

If you don't want any of these features and you want to go with a map that you can't adjust you can use the RexXer flash.

RexXer provide a reflash tool, TuneBoy provide a tuning tool.

In the end the choice is up to you guys (and girls).
