Akrapovic vs Termignoni

Help Support Ducati Forum:

if akra came with a fueling solution AND guarantee of no warranty issues, i would choose that.

i am happy with my termi slips though. enough money has been invested in the bike

I have the Akra full system on my 1199 R and used the Ducati Termi full system up-map (Race/EVO).

I have absolutley zero fuelling issues, have had no further mapping or tuning and it works amazingly well.

This also means that my warranty is entact and no problems with my dealership this way. Over 2000 miles on it now with no faults or problems.

Admittedly, I also can't compare it to the Termi's as I never fitted them. The Akra went on straight from the crate.

But it wails!!!

Both kick ass,
Like claymore I ripped the termignoni apart and ceramic coated them flat black, and repacked the cans..
They sound awesome and look slick..

AK look great also and I wish the install was not such a pain I would have both.

I didn't repack mine. Damn is that why it roars?

If you're spending x,xxx.xx you may as well spend x,xxx.xx more for the akra IMO. (unless you want to buy my bargain price term's ;-)

Akra is ridiculously loud. DO NOT BUY THIS SYSTEM IF THE COPS HARASS FOR LOUD EXHAUSTS! At first I honestly thought I screwed up install, missed a spring, loose header bolt, yada yada yada. Nope. Install was easy-peasy.

Sorry I missed getting the weight difference of the mufflers- I was really getting into it when I was installing them and totally forgot.

Apparently I missed a few other pieces too, sorry:

Akra:
Front header: 14 ounces
Rear header: 8 ounces
Bent pipe- 1 pound, 2 ounces
Right ling pipe- 1 pound
Collector- 1 pound 2 ounces

Termi:
Front header: 1 pound, 7 ounces
Right link pipe- 1 pound, 10 ounces
Rear header- 1 pound
Bent pipe- 1 pound, 15 ounces

Here goes:

Hey Whitepani
great post. I am about to do the same, but will weigh in grams. Do you mind telling me how long your install took ?

I am just trying to get some dyno time to get a before and after before I do the install.

I split it into two nights after work. (got home at 7pm both days and was working REALLY tired/slowly). Spent about two hours each night for a total of four.

Trust me: i'm not a big 'mechanic' and didn't really want to spend my own time doing the install but i'm VERY glad I did as it was easy and very straightforward.
Honestly, what took the longest was getting the front header bolts removed and reinstalled. Otherwise the actual removal and fitting of the pipes should realistically only take an hour and a half if you work it straight thru.

I will echo this, I spent about the same amount of time split over two days.

How loud VS Termi? Is it a deep loud or raspy loud?

It is deep and raspy. I had a friend on an RSV4 riding with me the other day and he had to hang back because it was too loud for him without ear plugs.

that's what my friends tell me all the time as well.

i have the loudness on mine so high, that i'm even thinking of staging it back to a more acceptable level.

Wow. Even you Cali?

Thought you were more than satisfied with your termis.

Yes. Even though I do indeed love ceramic coated and polished Termis, and I have a great example on my bike. The Akra is far superior in pretty much every metric (except price). Compared to my other Ducati's I can really notice the power dip with a full termi on the 1199 - it really is as simple as that. So, yes, it is on my list to fit a full AKRA. I will pass on the ceramic coating in favor of the natural blue that this exhaust exhibit.

I keep all the original parts from my Ducatis (got stacks of parts bins) and thus I will be keeping the FULL termi, just not on the bike.
