Good afternoon gents. As spring is around the corner, Im looking to move up from my 848 to an 1199s. The dealer had it listed for 19,995 which included the 1500 ducati promo. All said and done (tax, tags, freight and prep) they were going to give me 7,500 for my 848Evo which would have left me with 14,452.xx for the 1199s. I put a deposit on it just to hold it until I made a decision. Whats your opinions? I was thinking I could ask for another 1.5k-2,000 off?

so 22k otd. Seems high at least for around here. I would think even with the 1299 coming out you'd be able to get them lower. i'm sure dealers will be doing promos on the 1299 once it hits the floor soon- why not wait for it if your buying new?

I think $19,995 + tax title license for a $24,995 MSRP bike (20% off) is a fair deal but don't really know truthfully. I was one of the first people on the planet to own a 1199S and paid list... lol

(never again)

Average invoice to MSRP difference on an 1199 is 15%.
Simplified...
25k would be $3750 difference to the invoice paid.
$1500 on top of that...
The dealer is making a whopping $200 from you.
State/Local taxes are what they are and irrelevant to the OTD number since we all pay something different.

I'd take the deal.

Another 1.5 - 2k off isn't going to happen. I'd even say another $1 isn't going to happen. Its not a Chevy truck for ..... sake.

Well went a checked another dealer, he's giving me 250$ more for my trade and took another 750 off the 1199 plus a stand and cover. For ..... sake...Im going to pick it up Friday! ;)
As for waiting for the 1299, I'm more than happy with the 1199. I know there were some upgrades, but will not miss what the 1299 offers for saving a few thousand.

Ummm, well newsflash I got $2k off 1299s when it arrives, and might want to watch all of the reviews on YouTube videos stating 1199 and 1299 are night and day. The reason you might be getting a perceived deal is because no one wants them. Sorry to burst your bubble. Your money is MUCH better spent on 1299--period.

Poman great deal and enjoy the bike you want And congrats

ATXDUC no reason to be condescending.

Nice first post.

Care to share where you are getting 2k off list
Cheers

There is a difference between 'condescending' and the truth. He was the one that found the need to pontificate with expletives in the forum.

But thank you for the info

Man it's rough around here. Guys just cause this is a ducati doesn't mean the guy shouldn't haggle as much as possible. I've realized lots of people think their ducati doesn't depreciate and are as good as gold. Sounds like you got a good deal. I agree the 1299 is a huge step up if you can get a good deal on it. If the 1199 price is 3-5k dollars cheaper than the 12 than yeah the 1199 is a great bike. But 1500 bucks or so go with the 12. And just because the "reviews" say how good it is doesn't really mean much. they said the same thing about the 1199 when it came out. grats on the deal

Your basing your "info" on online reviews on a bike that isn't out yet. Don't be a dick.

He said ..... sake out of happiness you went on a rant for your first post like an ass. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for speaking for him.

Sounds like a few sensitive people--will be advised moving forward. Thought Ducati crowd might be a little more progressive.

Grab a 1299 is my point. Period.

Not sensitive, your first post (let alone any other) shouldn't be bashing someone getting a deal and "raining on their parade". The guy got a deal he was happy.

True enough. But also giving an opinion--hence forum.

I apologize. Congrats to buyer.

Now on with Ducati talk.

Didn't think this topic was going to stir up so much conflict. My comment about going to pick the bike up on Friday was more towards BurnCycle's comment of it not being a chevy truck. No hard feelings against him, but to each their own, I did get another 1k off on my deal.

I tried to talk to my salesman about the 1299, personally the 1199 fit my budget better. He said that its going to be a hot item and people will buy it regardless of getting a "deal" or not. I mean...its true, look how many guys purchased the 1199 when it first came out, I mean I'm sure the dealer negotiated some what. Don't get me wrong, the features on the 1299 are sick, the lean angle on the dash alone is nasty, I can already foresee some competition amongst forum members for bragging rights. Although at my skill level, I know I will not miss those features. The overall package is going to be a huge step up from the 848evo.

Look forward to posting some pic's after home-coming and becoming a frequent user of the board. 1st mod- Removing that christmas tree off the rear tail. I studied it at the dealer and I'm pretty sure I can mold a plate that covers the current mounting point to tuck the plate.
