Am I getting a good deal on this 1199 S?

And yet is any bike without flaw? You need only listen to a few post-race MotoGP or WorldSBK interviews to see that higher price tags and later manufacturing dates do not guarantee a rider/machine synergistic effect.

The connection between man and machine is far more important than what's listed on a spec sheet. My advice: Find the bike you connect with, master it to your potential, and enjoy every minute of it while the valley ....... fuss over depreciation and who has what.

Congrats to the buyer.

Im sorry, were you directing that comment towards me? ....... huh? LOL KEYBOARD WARRIOR TO THE RESCUE!!!!

OP asked if he was getting a good deal, i simply stated that he may have gotten something a little better after the 1299 launch. I was not trying to highlight the flaws of the 1199 nor was I trying to act like the dont exist. I love the bike and love riding it. Sorry (not really) if you got butt hurt about mentioning that it isn't perfect. Might be time to change your pad bro.

Duju,

The first paragraph was directed specifically to you in response to your comment regarding the 1199 having some flaws-- a detail which we will certainly find to not be mutually exclusive between the two models. For example, if the 1199 has flaws, and the 1299 has flaws, what benefit does making the general statement that one of the two possesses flaws offer to the conversation? As I mentioned, flaws can be readily found in the best money can buy, so the statement that a specific bike possesses flaws in and of itself has very little value.

The second paragraph was not specifically directed to you, but if you happen to find any part of it as being applicable to your situation, which seems to be the case, then so be it.

I changed my brake pads a couple months ago. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well went a checked another dealer, he's giving me 250$ more for my trade and took another 750 off the 1199 plus a stand and cover. For ..... sake...Im going to pick it up Friday! ;)
As for waiting for the 1299, I'm more than happy with the 1199. I know there were some upgrades, but will not miss what the 1299 offers for saving a few thousand.

Good for you. The 1199 is a marvelous machine and the upcoming 1299 intro won't change that.

2 years and 15k miles on my 1199 base now and I don't have the faintest inclination to swap it for the 1299.

Well Duck41,
I'm not the type to argue over the internet and so lets end this school girl bickering shall we? Really, im sorry you got butt hurt over mentioning that the bike has flaws. It was not intended to direct the OP away from it at all nor was I trying to glorify the 1299. Im sorry you were offended by that. I now realize that my comment was worthless to you and hope that you will find pleasure in me deleting it. I only ask that you understand that going on forums and calling people ....... is not the best approach to getting your point across. Bygones be bygones yes?

Duju,

No hard feelings. Your post didn't offend me-- it's the nature of forum dialogue to agree and disagree on various points.

Ummm, well newsflash I got $2k off 1299s when it arrives, and might want to watch all of the reviews on YouTube videos stating 1199 and 1299 are night and day. The reason you might be getting a perceived deal is because no one wants them. Sorry to burst your bubble. Your money is MUCH better spent on 1299--period.

When you take delivery, I'm sure I speak for all here COPY PASTE your buyers order and the break down of all taxes, fee's associated with your purchase.

Not that I'm calling you a liar, I'm just keeping you to your word =)

You got a goat? Dang, mine just gave me a ferret, and I have no idea where it is now :(

does your ass hurt Trauma ? You never know where those ferrets get to. :D

I reckon the special deal is probably ......... If you sprook about your great deal then be prepared to back it up. My 2 cents.

Any dealership making even a single dollar over their cost is lucky given the impending 1299 release....

I think the misunderstanding is the ....... was not directed at you, it was general statement about ppl that complain about depreciation and who has the best bike (latest greatest), go ahead and get the 1199 or 1299 - so all good.
