And here comes the Yamaha R1M...

Ya know, I think a lot of us are over looking a great option...a bike that because it was down on power compared to the 1199, 1000RR, and the ZX10R we may have looked elsewhere...

Now...problem solved!!! Over 200bhp, and still is/was one of the best package's out there...

2015 Aprilia RSV4 RR ? 201hp of Italian Superbike

Aint gonna lie the silver/grey one is looking sick. Hmmm. I have to decided on a track bike and a street bike. hmmmm

The wheels are forged magnesium or cast? That certainly is a first for a DOT road bike.

In Kevin Duke's video from EICMA he said the wheels are cast magnesium and weigh 2 pounds lighter than previous wheels. Frankly that is an unimpressive weight drop, especially for magnesium. I guess they had to really beef them up for DOT road use. I'm hoping he heard that wrong but he's actually there at all the introductions. EDIT: The wheels are actually 1.9 pounds lighter than the previous generation R1 wheels, as confirmed by the Yamaha 2015 R1 website: http://www.yamahamotorsports.com/sport/products/modelfeatures/6/0/features.aspx

I like everything on the new R1 except the headlight location/design. In race bodywork this will look just like an M1, which will be fun. That open-air tail section is very good looking, imagine it with a fender eliminator. And seriously, have all of you heard a crossplane R1 through a race exhaust? Best exhaust sound on a streetbike, IMHO. Here's video from my 09 crossplane with full Graves Ti low-mount at Daytona for proof:

I agree with Jeff that the cross plane is the meanest sounding engine with a full system that I have ever heard.

Saw this on another forum. Hilarious!

Still, it's growing on me. Especially when I think what this will look like in race bodywork!

Another video from my R1 at Daytona, I am missing this sound and if this new R1 is half as good as I think it is, I'm definitely tempted:

^^That is friggin hilarious!^^ LMFAO! Was this given to you by Bothen spies? Lol
Thanks for the laugh Jeff!

But still better than the BMW lazy eye!

<slow dramatic delivery> Many Bothens died to get us this information...

Love the "lazy eye" nickname, might have to get a custom plate when I get the 2015...

Notice it uses the same rear tire size as the 1199, so maybe more tire choices?

From what I understand the regular R1 gets the 190/55 and the R1M gets the 200/55. Being they have the same electronic rider aids, that means the system is programmable for tire size/profile - LIKE IT SHOULD BE, looking at you, Ducati

The 1299 and Panigale R do have tire-size programming capabilities now, just like the Superleggera had this year.

I think one of the biggest points are being missed.....the r1 technology is up there with the R n hp4 for only 21k....they are making everyone look way overpriced....which is a good thing for the future....even the base for 16k has alot of tech for that price.....i cant believe it

True, they definitely have the market beat on providing a great package for the $$$.

I felt sorry for the Yamaha guys...

The emotional level that Ducati's CEO transferred at the presentation was many levels above the competition.

Rossi and Lorenzo came over like clowns with all the pretending and such...

Yea those 2 guys seemed like they didn't want be there. Jorge didn't really explain anything on the R1M. He just said it's amazing over and over.

That "cross-plane I4" sounds twinny no??!? No usual high-whine inline sound anymore.

And yea, for $21k, it's a great value for all the tech. It's sooo ugly imo I'll never own one. Hope to pass a few next Spring on the track :D

I think it's price point will be the initial deciding factor. I also think the looks will begin to grow on people. I personally am really considering it. Even more so cause it will be available quicker than anything else and I already have a '13 R that I am tracking so a 1299 seems redundant. I really don't want an S1000RR either.

Well I put down a deposit at Danbury Powersports I hope to get the R1M that gets allocated to them.

Let you all know how it turns out.

Sweet. Im thinking of dropping a deposit on the R1 not m as a new start trackbike. Brembos and ohlins see what it does. I only ever raced R1s
