And here comes the Yamaha R1M...

closest we'll probably get is right here Akrapovic GP 2015 R1 exhaust. Anyone in CA or emissions restricted state is screwed that big metal box is emissions essential. I live in PA so no emissions we can run full race exhaust here

I wish we had a guy throwing up face(emoji) for this one... :D

And I've owned 2 R1's in the past... Even with all the tech they put into the bike I still would rather spend my 30K on a Duc, the exclusivity is worth the extra few bucks.

Lol. We need a ninja one also.

I have always loved R1s and always will but while ducati is my dream bike. Id rather have both on my garage. If i can only have 1 it would be based on cash flow but id be perfectly happy with either one.

Looks like that one still retains the under-bike "pre-exhaust" (S1000RR style). Lucky enough to not live in Peoples Republic of Kalifornia, so I can run full exhaust too. Graves IMHO made the best Yamaha full exhausts of the last few years so looking forward to their full Ti system.

Question: are the headers Ti? So like the Gen 4 ZX-10R what is mostly needed is a link pipe and slip on to drop weight and free up flow?

On the full Akra it is Full titanium. Like the 1199 ti system. But the muffler for emissions restricted with be a slipon under that cf shield you see. You should be able to get the muffler and a linkage pipe to bypass that metal coffin though.

Thanks, I meant to ask if the OEM headers are Ti. The Gen 4 ZX-10R has "serpent-style" OEM Ti headers that were very good, all that is needed to unleash the beast is an ECU re-flash, de-cat link pipe and slip-on pipe.

Was hoping for the same on the R1. I already love that the R1 OEM shifter has a second mounting position for the OEM quick shifter so, like the 2015 S1000RR, all that's needed is a single wrench to change position of the shift rod to set up reverse-shifting. This is ingenious and should be standard on all sport bikes, IMHO.

It even comes with a oil cooler guard. So few upgrades are needed with this bike right off the showroom floor. Yamaha is going very, very hard at the Europeans (BMW and Ducati) with the price-to-feature ratio. The WSBK homologation rules are really paying dividends now as we predicted.

Can't wait to see what the other Japs come out with. I could see Kawasaki coming out with a similar IMU (can't see any manufacturer not coming out with one now, actually), that would make it's inline 4 fire as a V-Twin or 3-Cylinder mid-corner to maintain traction and drive, just like Tom Sykes WSBK ZX-10R. That would be UBER-trick.

I used to think the days of the 888 SP, RC-30 and OWO1 were the glory days of superbikes. Nope, now and the next model evolutions are the absolute glory days. Just like the car world with the McLaren P1, Ferrari La Ferrari, Porsche 918, not to mention the more attainable options like the new Shelby GT350, Z06, and Hellcat. Awesome!

It is awesome. I really need to win the lottery lol. Id go ham.

2015 1299s
2015 R1
2015 RSV4 RF

2015 BMW M3
etc etc.

Correction to my earlier comment. Taken from notes of the reveal.

The R1M has "four titanium header pipes" every part of the exhaust is Ti except the cans.

The R1 has not been clarified.

Hmmm...looks like a Cox radiator guard. Not sure if this is a coincendence but I was at the Cox Racing shop a couple months ago and was shown a radiator from Yamaha for a new model that they were building a guard for.

I think the looks could grow on you. I'd have to see it in person as pics never quite do anything justice. But this is nowhere near the beauty of the Panigale

Seems like everyday I'm changing mind my on whether or not I want to keep my 10R for another year or get the R1M. I think as far as power is concerned, the new R1 will just now be catching up to the 10R. The R1's electronics will obviously be better.

We will probably see two versions of the new 10R. A regular 10R and a more track focused 10RR. That makes me want to hold off on getting a new bike until 2016 (might also be a new GSX-R1000 to think about).

First world problems.

I'm the same 1199. I keep going back and forth between the R1M and the RSV4 RF my wife is getting tired of hearing it. I need to win the lottery asap. lol

I am really wondering which way to go with this bike R1, or R1M. I wonder how much I would like the electronic suspension, or not. No doubt that is where the extra weight comes from.

Many Pani owners dropped the electronic stuff for traditional Stuff, but the HP4 owners haven't. So I am a little hesitant. I feel I will have buyers remorse if I don't go R1M

Thoughts?

You said r1m more in your post and if you like the elec susp on yiur R you know what your getting. And the M is carbon fiber body :)
