Sorry, but the R1 looks BUTT-UGLY

The 2015 Superbike Comparison test between all the big mags is gonna be a MUST-READ

This is butt ugly

And yes it will be. Thank god I have subs to all of them lol

Of course cause like the Internet they are always right...:D

Actually Ive noticed that most of them are worse riders than we are lol. But what I love is that they are very detailed about the bike. Usually more detailed than the factory sites are. And if you read 4 or 5 different mags you usually get an in depth spec of all the bikes and the components. I let my testes tell me if it was right haha

Roadracing World tests are usually pretty money. Chris Ulrich and Jeremy Toye are usually doing them. At least for the track portions they don't hold any punches and usually tell it how it is.

I agree that there is a lot of good info provided in the shootout articles but I would'nt entirely base my purchase on their opinions...

I'm a pretty big fan of MCN's columns & YouTube posts on motorcycle's and comparison tests...and I can only speak for myself but I'm not as good of a rider as 50% of the guys that write about these bikes...

Need more track time :(

Anyone put a deposit one the R1 or R1m yet? And any info from dealers when they get the first ones?

Also found out today the GPS/Tele CCU is an option on the R1 not just for the R1M.. Sweet. And that Yamaha may be adding as an option a factory Akra Exhaust.

I will be riding one the start of Feb so wil let let you know how it feels. Currently there is no aftermarket system offered but the bike does come with titanium headers so it's only a matter of time before a full system is offered with graves looking likely to be the first one to market with one especially considering they are racing it with motoamerica in April.

Race teams have already done some work with them. There are a few exhaust getting out there. Apprently they are being told not to publically release any dyno figures until February but so far I've heard 175-180 for a bone stock one in the US (don't know what gas used), and mid to upper 180's for one in superstock spec in europe running the equivolant of our pump gas. However, until actual charts come out and we know the variables (i.e., slicks vs street tire numbers) the numbers don't really mean much. Couple of the US teams that have them seem VERY optimistic as to it's potential in Superstock spec.

Reg did you order the R1 or R1M? Also please do the first available to ride after preorders is slated for april at my local. Also the Akra would be a Factory Option on it. My dealer was told Akra makes the header and can for this R1. And as always Graves will have one, as well as Two Borthers but I'd rather have Akra on it.

Shaka - My dealer has a race team and their 2 bikes arrive in late feb. Its gonna be a good superstock season. WSBK is gonna be awesome this year between the 1199, RSV4 and R1.

it's the R1 and a race bike hence the early delivery so we are expecting it towards the end of the month or first week of Feb so depending on timing we will look to take it out for a quick blast at jennnings before tear down and testing.

I will update more when appropriate but at this moment there are no aftermarket exhausts available to the public but that should change shortly or maybe even when the bike is available to the general public, on a final note the bike is putting out a huge amount of power stock and for $17k it's an amazing package.

Just my curiosity, but when you order a bike for a race team, I've always wondered if you get the complete OEM package or can you chose what options you want on the order? Thanks in advance :)

You pretty much just get the base bike as you will be taking it apart and rebuilding it so there is little to no point in getting anything fancy hence why race teams won't go for the M version.

Akra has posted info for exhausts for the 2015 r1.. no pics yet but man so ready.

Akrapovi?
