I'm seriously thinking about buying an Apple iMac desktop. Just curious if any of you guys are using it and how difficult the transition was?

It's a curve for sure, but it's all very straightforward and easy.

Do it :)

I'll also add that while I know many people that switched, I don't know ANY that went back!

I'm still kicking it around and will probably procure one. I've been a Windows user for so long I'm a bit concerned about leaving a platform that I'm familiar with. Lots of things I like about the iMac though. Looks like Best Buy probably has the best deal right now on the 27" and i7 for $1899.00. Anyone aware of a better price?

I just changed from a Mac Pro to an iMac, i really took a year to make the decision and i am so glad I did it.

if you get it and need help converting email me and I will help

Bought the wife a Mac Book Air. She won't ever be a Windoz user again!

This is what I am using as I type right now and I love it. The Big screen makes a BIG difference for photos and videos, even watching shows. the keyboard is awesome and tiny but as comfy as the big ones. I say do et. I still have my first mac which is the first silver macbook that wasnt the pro and even though it has taken a massive beating (physically and softwarely) it still works pretty darn good.

I'm an iMAC user at home, windows PC at work. I prefer the Apple for the all round slick design and the 24" screen.

You can run 'parallel' software that will allow a MAC to run both Windows and OSX together, although I am yet to try this.

Been forced back to a PC with work, after 3yrs of Mac for work and play.

Best thing I can say is that now I have some separation between the two

I was a power PC user, hated macs! always thought macs were made for idiots. Until my fiancé had asked me to edit and compress a 4gig video file of a presentation she had to give. She handed me her Mac laptop. I opened up Adobe premiere on her laptop and zip it was done. I thought it did not compress so I did it again and zip it was done. I played the video and it had no errors. I took her file and loaded onto my laptop (which was better than hers per spec) I opened adobe premiere and tried to compress it and the hour glass appeared. 10 mins later the compression was done. Played around with photoshop, illustrator etc. on her laptop shut it down, went to the Apple store and bought a MacBook pro and installed a SSD hard drive, bought the cinema display never looked backed. blazing fast. Now I use the Mac book pro retina display because she hogs the cinema display in our office at home. At work I use a PC and it is sloooowww. I couldn't believe how much better macs manages the memory better than PC. The only down fall is there is no true Microsoft Project for Macs. So I loaded parallels and installed win 7 and ms project so I could do my work at home. I will never go back to PC unless Apple goes out of business. Have you seen their stock prices talk about recession proof.

I love any apple product so go for buying it! But I'd never heard a Mac PC, but a lot of Mac user loves it. Try looking on Amazon! According to a brand new survey, Amazon.com sets the standard for customer satisfaction with online stores. It has topped the yearly study for each of the eight years it has been carried out. Other Internet retailers fell from last year, however. The survey concludes these merchants should look to Amazon as a model. :)

I've had the iPhone and iPad for work for a couple years and I love them. Then I got the wife an iPad and iPhone so I could facetime with the family while traveling and now I started switching everything to Apple products at home.

I started with the 27" iMac a couple months ago and it was so quick and painless and picked up the Apple TV which is cool. Then my wireless router was having issues so I switched to the Apple AirPort Extreme which was the easiest router I ever set up. Now the wife bought me the 13.3" MacBook Pro retina display for traveling and it's so much faster and lighter than the old PC laptop. Retina screen is awesome!

I'm still learning the tricks between Mac and PC but so far I wouldn't go back based on the ease of use.

I have seen online a program called Crossover that allows you to run some programs from Microsoft not available for Mac, like Microsoft Visio and I think also Mirosoft Project. Not sure what others it does but you can search for compatible programs on their website.

Go Apple!

I have a 27" iMac, MacPro and everything in between...except for an iphone. I will never have another iphone.

Yep, I drank the Kool-Aid about 7 years ago and have completely weaned myself from PC/MS. Did not take long at all to be comfortable with it. I kept expecting to have to debug and configure everything more than actually using the software for it's intended purpose, but that ever happened. If you need to use MS software there are some decent virtual machines that allow you to do it that are better than Bootcamp. I use Parallels, but there are others. Rarely need it now.

Another mac user here. Got all the goodies, iphones etc. I was a complete moron to computers, still sorta am but there's nothing ya can't figure out on a mac. They're so user friendly. Pull the trigger my friend, you won't look back.

Currently have my second Mac this is the 27 inch screen, awesome!

Once you go Mac you never go back!

I have the same and also a Iphone :D

I think they are great and conversion/transition was easy for me.

Unless, you are a serious Gamer, I think it best for what it we do normally (work, editing, web browse and etc)
