So I've got my green card insurance situated, but can't find a company who will insure my bike for comprehensive (theft/damage). If anyone can put me in contact with an agent they have a good relationship with or if anyone can give me advice (aside from: don't let it out of your sight!), I'd appreciate it greatly.

Are you keeping it on US plates?

I would not suggest insuring it with Italian companies. Kasko (so they are called the ones including comprehensive and theft) insurance policies will blow you mind, price wise, WRT US equivalents.
I have never done those kind of (roaming :D ) policies before, and I have no idea what you'd put in the always present question about where the bike is located/resident.
I'd do a search for "safest place in Europe" and use that, as theft is driving a big part of the cost, and that is heavily based on location.

Agree, Kasko is absolutely way too expensive but theft is not that crazy, still way more then in US but manageable. If you call Mario he will tell you what it's possible and what not, he's an honest guy and more important he's a biker.

You won't have trouble with theft in Germany for the most part because unemployment is fairly low. However, in places where there is high unemployment the theft probability rises exponentially.

Lloyds is still the easiest option, but possibly you could get a temporary address to help? Also, I have seen civilian kids in Mannheim and Frankfurt driving their US plated cars so I assume that they pulled a policy on the car before they arrived for school.

Theft policies cost a fortune even in LA. or here in Colorado. Please let me know if I can help.

You guys rock! Thanks for all the info. I'll start by calling Mario tomorrow.

Heading to Misano tomorrow in a Peugeot 107 or equivalent. Sucks I won't have my own bike at WDW, but at least I'll be there.

And yes, I'll be riding with CA plates!

OK, I let him know you are going to call him. He lives not too far from Misano.

Having trouble with SIM card. Couldn't make any calls out today. Vodafone has been a pain in the ass so far. And not cheap. I thought wifi and SMS and cell coverage would be a breeze, but it's anything but--and I'm still on my first country.

In any case, I'll get a hold of Mario even I I have to use a pay phone! ;)

My Audi A1 and Garmin did get me to Misano. I should be slamming out instagrams left and right over the next few days. Gonna be sweet!

Try using Skype (when you have wifi).

Or Viber...

Buy a GSM Card, the a Data Plan on it. Use the data for VOIP ou SMS via Viber.

I've got lots of Instagram pics up (I'm dennis_matson). If you don't have IG, you can see what I've uploaded here:

I haven't had web access since I've been in Milan. I've got a Vodafone.it card, so I have cell access, but when I try to use my phone as a hotspot I get denied. Their way of screwing me. The wifi at the Hotel is impossible to use--and they charge for it. I have access now only because I'm sitting in the air conditioned press room.

WDW is insane, guys. If you've never been, ya gotta come. Ducati heaven.

Oh and I saw the Scrambler. It's very clean, modern, playful and athletic. I want I want.

Happy you're having fun there!
This year I was on the right side of the Atlantic ocean, but the wrong side of the Adriatic sea :D
As for your card, I had the pleasant surprise to find my TIM data SIM card upgraded to 4G/LTE this year (I think I paid 20 Euro/month with 20GB traffic), and both my home town, and Misano have coverage.
Blazing fast I'd say!
How did you deal with Misano track heat during the summer?

If can afford, I suggest you take with u an Iridium Sat Phone for emergencies. You'll have to familiarize usage, of course, but it would improve safety by a big margin.

I'm trying to go the fearless route, which could have killed me already, but I'm managing, and trying to keep things as simple as possible. The less I spend, the longer I'm out in the world.

The heat and humidity has been fairly uncomfortable. 110 degrees F, motorcycle boots, wool socks....yeah. I did get a little spoiled here and there with AC (in my Audi A1 and in the Misano press room), but the other 23 hours of the day have been hot and sweaty.
