I am excited to hear about your new and past adventure. I admire that you are doing all this on your 1199. A real inspiration. In 2005 I rode my 998 across USA for only 1 week a short but an amazing experience. this year I was already planning this year a longer cross country on new 1199s. Your past trip land now your future trip ar only further inspiration. i also really enjoy your writing. Looking forward to hear more.

That sucks!
Hope this won't turn into an Around The World With An Audi A1 :)
Headed back to Milan?

Yep, been back in Milan for almost a week now? ...., has it been that long? Still no word on when my bike will be released and no idea why. Was hoping to hear before the end of the day yesterday, but nothing....

Sure am getting in a lot of miles on my Sidi Boots, though.

Given you're still bike-less, I would have taken a path across into Tuscany. Perfect eating some huge Fiorentina steaks and nice Brunello di Montalcino with this ...... weather.
This summer is not taking off. Should have wired some Sun from CA before leaving :D

+1 on the trip to Tuscany and the food. Olive Garden is crap!:D

Could it be Italian Customs ? US customs on importation has to pre-clear all imports before they are loaded ( ship - air etc ) recently imported a non US compliant Truck
Zero problems once the authority to load was given. I know on exports of vehicles they are always looking for stolen or inconsistencies in vehicle history. That's why I'm really wondering if it's the US, maybe the broker is blaming them.

I hope it gets sorted quickly

...., just tag the fooking bike with info of AntiHero's website / exploits and some references from manifesting dealer/ importer and references from manufacturer and let passage proceed. Crazy beuracracies (can't spell it at the moment). These are some of the things that a globalized society would relieve, although the tradeoffs may or may not be worth it. In any case, our world rider AntiHero sets the example for rider without borders, hehe.

I don't know the exact reason for the delay. Initially they required the original title--not a photocopied one. Found that out after I'd arrived here in Italy, but was able to have it FedEx'd. Now waiting for additional info.

As for the sun--no need for more heat! It hit 110 F at WDW. Today has been the first day since I've been here where it's actually been reasonable. It rains a lot at night, but the days have been pretty brutal.

Desperately miss my bike. I spend half the day just wandering on foot. It's a slow way to see a city, but it's definitely thorough. My Sidi footwear has worn holes in my skin in places, so I got a new pair of shoes. Long day of walking tomorrow. Tick tock tick tock.

Hey, look on the bright side; at least you're in the right place to buy shoes... ;)

Hope your bike makes it over soon!

Great!
Are you going to Rome to pick it up?

It was supposed to come to Milan...not sure if it'll be transported to here, then uncrated at the dealer or if it'll go to a dealer in Rome. Waiting to hear what the easiest thing will be.

Either way, it'll be soon, provided Italian customs doesn't delay things.

Antihero
Since you bike was born in Italy it should have dual citizenship and have no problem with customs.. :) (sorry, couldn't resist)
hope you get her back soon.
Bret

In hind sight, you should have just bought one from the factory. Would have been faster by this point.
