It was great working with Elisa. Easier than expected. The time difference slowed things a little. It took about 5 days and 5 emails to nail down everything. I sent them pictures of what I wanted and made corrections on the designs they came up with. Here’s one of the marked up designs I sent back. They pretty much nailed it after sending them this.

Pretty cool, hindsight is 20/20, should have gotten the ‘Competition’ seat cover material, the neoprene is good in the begging but seems to harden over a few months and is less grippy, it also splits a little over time, the latter doesn’t affect the seat but visually may bother you.

The Competion surface material is much more grippy.

That sucks. I went with the other material as well, as that is what they recommended for grip. Hope mine stays good. Will come back with an update when riding season begins.

Btw, did you notice the small note on the packaging that said to keep the seat in a plastic bag away from sunlight for the first couple of months? Something to do with oils in the material. Works out great for me as I won’t be able to ride for a few months anyway. Maybe that will preserve it better

You guys inspired me so had Raceseats make me a seat for trackday riding. Started with their flat seat and had them round out the sides where your inner thighs rest. Wanted it to be similar to Bautista's seat since where about he same size. That should put me a little higher up and get my knees to lock into the tank better 🤞 I'll probably have to adjust my rearsets up to compensate.

Main difference from stock seat is that the Raceseat is more flat and less scalloped. Will be a pain on the street since the height will be higher and I'd have to one-leg it at stops.View attachment 47337

That looks great. I wanted the wider, squared off version as it provides a large seat surface at the front to alleviate pressure. I’m 105-110 kg so a larger surface area will make a huge difference in several ways, but especially for comfort. The stock seat is quite unbearable actually, for anything besides track use.

No I didn’t see that note, mine was never stored in sunlight, though never sealed in a bag. Not sure why they’d recommend the neoprene version for grip, the competition surface is WAY grippier right out of the box, and the neoprene loses ground on grippyness as time goes by.

That’s not to say the neoprene seat material is bad, it’s great, I just prefer the competition material after trying both.

We are talking about degrees of good, not bad versus good.

Hey Steven, how old is this seat that it's cracking in the corner?

@Steven31371 Were you able to keep your turn signals, brake light, license plate, etc. after you swapped rear subframes?

If you get the Motoholders or Pierobon rear subframe I recommend getting these bits from MotoComposites too…they are significantly lighter than the plastic bits that came with the bike. When combined with the Motoholders subframe the assembly comes in 1 pound lighter than the one piece FullSix rear Subframe assembly, and total cost for everything is still about 1/3 of the FullSix unit

It’s remarkable how good RaceSeats.it is at making a seat exactly as you envision it from nothing but a written description lol.

I ordered another seat from them that’s even taller than the last one, the last one I requested 20 mm taller with squared sides. They sent me this:

They made it perfectly, but then I wanted to try going even taller with the seat after realizing I still had plenty of clearance to hook my leg on the tank extender without my outside leg riding too high up on the tank extender to pull the bike down. I also ride with one cheek on and one off at lean and without getting too graphic about it the squareness of the sides of the seat was doing a bit too much cheek spreading, it was really getting in there 😂😂😂. Good for ‘indexing’ to the right spot but a little too good haha.

For the next seat I simply said: “I need a 2nd seat that’s 50mm taller, with generally squared sides but slightly more rounded than the last one. With just a bit more taper at the front too.”

And they knocked the ball out of the park on the 1st try.

Looks familiar haha. Received my seat yesterday after it was stuck in Milan for a week.

I think you mentioned a few posts ago about needing some rubber grommets on the bottom of the seat? Any specifics on this?

No not rubber grommets, but where the seat screws down in the rear onto the subframe there some indent sleeve washers needed as RaceSeats doesn’t send them with the seats, meaning the retaining screws will just pass through the screw wholes in the seat, but you can pull those over from the existing seat on your bike usually

how tall are you? Iam 6 ft and that is hte reason for he big step, to straighten my back on hte straights and keep my weight forward everywhere else. Longer subframe is not going to do you any favors, weight needs to be forward if you are big...
yes they made the pad too

I’m 6’3 but with disproportionately long skinny legs, I’m super top heavy, with a big barrel chest and 250 pounds in gear lol picture a big Russian wrestler with long prison legs lol

I’m not fat, just big with about a 50 inch chest that’s almost as big front to back as side to side. Makes some unique changes getting into a good tuck even with the tallest possible windscreens. When chest is on the tank I’m still just too big to not catch a lot of air. The only thing that’s helped is getting my butt back as far as I can and raising the seat height so my torso is flatter across the bike on fast straights. I don’t get wheelie even with my butt that far back partly because I’m so top heavy that my chest on the tank helps keep the front down, as does the Pierobon extended swing arm, and the Superleggera wings.

The front is really planted on long hard accelerations at this point…but we’ll see this weekend if the higher seat, and over the next several track days if an even higher seat and taller windscreen help me get into a better tuck. Lengthening the rear subframe is a last resort, a back up plan if all else fails

Without wishing to simplify the onerous task of lengthening the swingarm, you could just buy longer bolts, and some spacers equal to the extra length of the bolts.
Go in 10mm increments.
