Out of curiosity, what does getting a tank cover finished cost? I'm contemplating options.

I was thinking about testing flat seat before flat seat plus tank extender.

I bought that same windscreen just from your post. Tall guy problems. Hopefully it will be here before the ground thaws.

Why did you pick 34?

Hey do you have the Attack Performance rear sets?

I almost consider them a must for tall riders.

Was playing around with them tonight and figured out how to get the foot pegs even lower.

Between the seat and the recent adjustment of the foot pegs I opened the distance between the seat and foot pegs by 3 inchesā€¦and it feels like a game changer.

Dont you catch the tarmac with your toes?

I was wondering about the same. I have my DP rear sets set to the middle vertically, and sometimes struggle to keep my toes from dragging. I wear size 12 US boots, so I have large but not huge feet.

I wear size 12 tooā€¦my boot toe slider are worn down, I just keep extra on hand lol

Although I just tuck my inside foot up a bit higher and donā€™t touch the toes very oftenā€¦I took the CF heal guards off the bike and am going to cut the bracket for the heal guard on the right side off altogether. That helps because it gives room for the inside foot to tuck up into the bike a bit.

The reality is that these bikes were not designed for a 6ā€™3ā€ rider, something has to be sacrificed somewhere.

Before I gave up good body position to keep my toes from ever touching, but after my half day with that retired MotoGP guy really pushing getting my leg position better on the bike I changed that equation, and am willing to trade an occasional toe touch and burn through some toe sliders for more comfortable better body position.

The real issue is that on the right side the foot brake is a bit too close to the foot peg for my liking. So Iā€™m looking into finding a longer extension for it, or just remove it altogether. (I have an IMA thumb brake on the bike.)

Anecdotally he was telling me to open my inside leg up more and Iā€™d be knee down on every corner because the bike had enough lean, but I physically couldnā€™t open my legs/hips up more they way the bike was set upā€¦now I can. The leverage point Iā€™m getting on the tank with the outside leg feels much more secure with less energy put into it too.

Intresting. I was thinking about removing my left heel guard. It would make getting my size 14 under the shifter for downshifts easier.

I flipped the left heel guard around on mine so that it points forwards and in, instead of backwards and out. That way I have something to put my foot against, but it doesnā€™t get in the way of my heel. It looks wrong with the backside of the cf facing out, but it works much better for me.

Lowering the foot pegs will too. Reduces the foot angle to get underneath it.

I canā€™t see where theyā€™re actually needed for anything other than decoration at this point.

The more you can pivot your foot without getting into the exhaust or chain the better.

Iā€™m already at the lowest and most rear position theyā€™ll allow. Once I start using more lean Iā€™d imagine theyā€™ll have to move up.

There's a couple of runs in the black gel coat, nothing some 600 grit sanding won't fix. I was just thinking about wrapping it with some satin black vinyl but it will need a sanding

Please can I ask a naive question re the tank cover? How do you prevent scratching to the tank under the tank cover? Do you use a film or something? Bubble wrap is going to be too bulky (I said it was naive). Also, does the filler cap look too recessed
or is it nearly flush?

Thanks!

Mostly you just have to be careful putting it on and taking it off, the load is born at the attachment point on the sides, and most of the tank extender isnā€™t touching the tank, under the seat and at the top but the middle where you are putting lateral forces doesnā€™t make contact.

As far as the recess at the gas tank, Iā€™ll post some picks, I think thatā€™s subjective so youā€™ll have to decide.

Iā€™m not gunna front like I donā€™t try to make my bike look good and enjoy it looking good, but function still trumps aesthetics for me, in fact I find function to also be aesthetically pleasing.

Having said all that, Iā€™m not sure I even need the tank extender with the new seat and better foot peg location. The seat I have now is taller and flatter, but also has much more grip on the surfacing material.

I wonā€™t know for sure until the next track day but just out riding it Iā€™m not sure the tank extender is needed now.

I'm not too nuts about the Extreme Components one. I wouldn't recommended it. The resin application seems pretty rough too as its very thin and flexible along the top where there's a large seam, and it has these goofy built in covers which go over the velcro spots on the tank where the battery cover would attach.

To you other question, I'd put some painters tape on the corners of the tank, in particular where the Ducati lettering is to protect the tank's paint.

OK thanks, appreciate the advice.
