bell star carbon? agv corsa? others?

Thank you all for your feedback! It has helped a ton so far. Unfortunately the AGV is out as it just didn't fit right. It did however fit my wife...add that to the list along with her new one piece lol.

The rf1200 from shoei fit awesome and I really like the marquez graphic to boot.
I am trying to find a bell star locally to try right now.

I wasn't a big fan of the Arai's I tried today. At least I am down to two brands now.

Needs correction on Mark's part here gents. Gunny NEVER told anyone NEXX Helmets suck on this forum! The thread I posted was inquisitive in nature and though I was given alot of negative info on the lid I personally wouldnt buy one, but never once said they suck - this would be contrary to sales protocol.

no correction needed. i stated nexx helmets suck when asked my opinion. gunny never said anything about the helmet just asked me a question . i found it funny that this post came up after that.

When I bought my Bell, it was a bit too snug (small) after being measured as 58 cm; the salesman recommended I try a medium. However, now that it is broken in, it is just right. A medium would be way too big now.

Yes GUNNY asked Mark about Nexx and was told they were horrible. The post was put up by GUNNY BEFORE asking Mark, and GUNNY NEVER told ANYONE they suck..................therefore the correction would be that "Gunny NEVER told anyone they suck"

rather than

Perhaps there is some miscommunication or something here at the moment?
After hearing the news from a couple people - I would personally not buy one. However, for anyone that owns one - i never said "they suck" to them or anywhere else on forum. Unless I posted that in my sleep or on drugs.

Well I just got access to my Bell Prodeals account. I will be going with the bell star carbon. I love the Shoei as well and may still get one in the future for some variety, but the discount form Bell was just phenomenal.

So, you're saying my helmet sucks?

I'll say it for you Gunny since I owned one for two years now. The NEXX helmet sucks. I owned the NEXX carbon until I stepped on it.
The pros:
Great vision side to side and top to bottom best helmet out there for vision.
Great air flow
Light weight probably the lightest out there.
What more can you ask for in a helmet?

The shell is too brittle
The neck roll is non removable and cheaply glued to the shell. The glue came apart and became the loudest helmet I owned.
If you put the face shield QD on you can't seal it properly it leaves a huge gap no matter how you adjust it.
Chin guard cheaply made
The breath guard falls out easily
The profile is loo large meaning every time I did a head check the helmet would hit my shoulders.

It's a shame! the NEXX helmet has so much potential in terms of functionality ie vision, air flow, light weight.

I have seen the version 2 and it suppose to fix all of those issues but after experiencing the XR1R I wouldn't waste my money because the shell is still too brittle. To prove a point to a certain dealer friend of mine I stood on the helmet and cracked the shell then took one of my Arai's and stood on it nothing happened stomped on it a few time nothing happened. Did the same with my Arai carbon and AGV pista to compare apples to apples (carbon to carbon) and nothing happened. Thank god I didn't pay for it. They kicked in for free when I bought my 1199.

Which means you overpaid your 1199 by about $250, or their cost on the NEXX POS. I've seen and handled the XR2 Carbon (newest version of the XR1R) and it really seems the same to me with new vents. Certainly not worth the same money as a Shark Race-R Pro, Shoei RF-1200, Arai Vector 2 and other helmets in the same street-price range.

LOL Probably or maybe $1500 over, because they gave me $1500 of accessories at dealers cost not retail. They threw in a Shorai battery, NEXX Carbon helmet, 2013 Ducati Corse Leather jacket, comfort seat, installed my Full Termi for free and a few extra nick nacks.

I agree with Cloner on this. The fit is extremely important, especially considering the purpose of the helmet and the investment we make.
That said, my next helmet will be the AGV Corsa....they finally made one that fits my melon.
